Rob, Michael:
Well, now all we have to do is wait until January 2005 for the disks to start rolling out. In addition, ADV announced that the RahXephon movie (regular and LE) will be coming out in July.
All:
I started rewatching another great series last night. Hellsing vol. 1 is even better the second time around, and I really liked it the first time.
Also, since we've been so slow lately, I'll ask the usual Tuesday question: What, if anything, are you buying this week? I'll be picking up Angelic Layer vol. 6, and Kiddy Grade vol. 3, plus 3-4 other disks.
John.

Tuesday, and no anime yet. Sigh... By the way, to a classically-educated person such as myself, "perfect" can carry the meaning of "complete". I'm not claiming that GunBuster is the best possible OVA [though it is GREAT], but that it does not need any adding to -- not even though there were supposedly 20 episodes which remained unshot .

I'm split on hearing Funimation will have FMA. On the positive side, they did a very good job with the Fruits Basket dub and transfer. On the negative side, sometimes they butcher a show. Here's hoping for good!
Matheson- "There are probably some who'll say that by doing this, we are interfering with their culture."
Gideon - "Probably. Screw them."
-Crusade, Visitors from Down the Street

JohnAD: That's kinda BS because even cars (as of a few years ago) still didn't have CDs as a standard feature. My 2000 Blazer came with a cassette player/radio and that was IT! At this rate, DVD-Audio/SACD or whatever multi channel format dominates won't be a standard car feature until..... 2020? LOL maybe later!
Anime, anime have you forsaken me? I haven't gotten anything lately. Where is it?

Alanna:
My 2001 Civic EX came with one. The point I was trying to make is that car manufacturers are putting CD players into many models of cars as standard features. I don't know of any putting DVD-A in as a standard feature (if you know of one, let me know). Honestly, I don't see it moving out of the niche market for quite some time because of the format issue, the established CD market, and that >2 channels for music is outside most listeners' experience. I don't think it will be 2020, but maybe 2010.

I went out at lunch and got my DVDs for the week: Angelic Layer vol. 6, Argentosoma vols. 3-5, Kiddy Grade vol. 3, and The Last Samurai. I also got a free Pioneer/Geneon preview disk with some first episodes and trailers.

Lol...Dave and I were talking about Cars and options the other day. I have the Option-Less car sitting in the driveway right now.
It's a 93 Saturn (SL1?) with NOTHING on it. None of that fancy auto windows/mirror stuff. No, it goes further, I don't even have a cupholder! It's a stick shift with a tilt-less steering wheel. The windshield wipers only have 2 settings beyond intermittin and don't even talk about AC...lol..it is Michigan so I didn't think that would be a big deal but...wow...
I can't even drive Dave's car normally anymore! (2000 Grand Prix GTP)
"Where's the headlight switch? What? You mean that's automatic??? What's that floating out in front of the car? It tells you your speed Out There??" Lol...
On other rambling news...That's great about the Rahxephon Movie!!!! I pre-ordered the SE...pretty expensive though isn't it? Is any idea of what's so special about it?
BTW: i've been getting by with the little portable DVD player at work but I've been engrossed in Dawson's Creek re-living my childhood anyways so...not much anime these days..but I did recieve the Kaliedo Star box yesterday so I'm kinda looking forward to watching that disk...and I'm still waiting patiently for Azumanga Daioh vol 2!

I got an email from ADV today. Announced was a bunch of Excel stuff:
Menchi plush (10-inch SRP $14.99; 5-inch SRP of $7.99)
Menchi rug (SRP $9.99)
Menchi t-shirt (SRP $19.99)
Wall scroll with Excel, Hyatt, Menchi and Ilpalazzo (SRP $17.99)
Six collectible magnets (SRP $2.99 each)
Official Excel Saga cloisonné (SRP $2.99)
Reversible, good and bad antenna topper (SRP $3.99)
Chopsticks (SRP $4.99)
Lunch box (SRP $14.99)
It included a picture of the Menchi plush. Sweet!
What is a cloisonne?? All I could find was this definition:
a design made by filling in with coloured enamel an outline of flattened wire put on edge
Matheson- "There are probably some who'll say that by doing this, we are interfering with their culture."
Gideon - "Probably. Screw them."
