If you loved episode 1 of AzuDai, you're really gonna like the rest of the series... episode 1 was the weakest, IMHO.

Well, just finished watching Azumanga Daioh.
My professional opinion is that for the first couple of eps. I honesty wasn't sold. But by the end I was rolling on the floor laughing and crying at the same time because it was so great and I wanted more!!
This series definitly gets two Big Thumbs Up!

Well I did it.
I registered for Otakon 2004.
That said, I am eagerly awaiting my copy of azumanga daioh DVD with box- I have read and re-read the admittedly over-adapted but still fun ADV Manga's 3 volume release and loved it.

I'm also looking forward to picking up my copy of Azumanga Daioh. I'm getting The Monster Legacy Set on the 27th as well.

I'm greatly looking forward to both of those -- as well as the first box set of Marmalade Boy, which is also coming that day. The 27th is shaping up to be a bit on the expensive side...

I have learned the art of pre-ordering at rightstuf. At first it was a pain but now I have a notebook I keep everything in order in and just mark it in my checkbook what's clearing once a week.
I have to admit, Azumanga Daioh kinda caught me by surprize though because it cleared from my account 3 weeks in advance!!

Ben: THANKS! I didn't know Soul Hunter was coming out in a lovely, GLORIOUS BRICK! Yes I just preordered it. Burn Up Excess I already have preordered though. I also have Dirty Pair Flash, Crest of the Stars and Sorcerer Hunters, and hope there are many more bricks on their way to us in the future.
Glad I'm not the only one that appreciates the bricks! May they live long and prosper!
JohnAD: I wouldn't call myself a big fan of Tarantino either, I just think Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and now Kill Bill are all solid movies. The first time my BF "made" me watch Pulp Fiction, I HATED IT. The second time he coaxed me into watching it (its one of his favorite movies) I began to see the genius in it. And by the third time, I thought it was great. No one can win me over on Reservoir Dogs however.

Ohhh I do have a question, for those that have seen Kill Bill Vol. 1. The anime sequence, my BF (who hates anime) said "that's really cool, if there was anime like that I'd watch it." Mmmmmmkay so what is out there that is "like that"? He liked the visual style and the grittiness of it. I usually go for fluffy comedic stuff but am willing to give something else a shot. I know someone is going to mention Ghost in the Shell. I have it, and he won't watch it. He also didn't want to see Ninja Scroll after a co-worker of ours watched it and claimed it to be the stupidest and worst thing ever. (I have not seen it). Soooo any suggestions? Preferably shorter series or movies since I can't really see him going for anything too long as a starter.
