Can anyone recommend a good online episode guide to "Dark Shadows"?

I have been watching the original series through NetFlix and am on the last disc of Collection 11 (Eps 645-655, IIRC). I had a seperate queue for the series, but NetFlix is eliminating the multiple queue feature later this summer. I decided to move the discs into my main account queue. The availability was listed as "Very Long Wait" for disc one and "Long Wait" for discs 2-4. When I tried to search for the discs to add them to the main account, I cannot find them! It skips from collection 11 to 13! So, I contact them via email and get the standard "thanks for your input, we will consider your suggestion" reply. Now I am afraid I might end up missing 40 episodes if they never correct the problem. Can anyone point me to a good site if, as a last resort, they can'r fix this?

Many Thanks!

Eric

I have an extensive episode guide I can email you if you send me your email to my box. I may have to zip it though since each episode is in a separate file so you'll neeed winzip to unzip.

Eric,

Hello. I use the following link whenever I need a quick synopsis of any of the 1225 episodes.

Dark Shadows - Episode Guide

It is also an excellent resource for cross-referencing any of the characters and the roles they played, as most (if not all) of the entries are cross-linked.

The following site is also very good, and has a ton of information on just about everything having to do with any incarnation of Dark Shadows.

Dark Shadows Journal Online

The one provided by (the late) Craig Hamick is also quite good. I corresponded with him a couple of times over the years before he passed away. He was always willing to help with anything related to Dark Shadows.

Welcome to Dark Shadows Online!

On a personal note, Dark Shadows is one of my top three all-time favorite television shows. As such, I have begun a Dark Shadows Transcripts page as a labor of love (I'm currently at episode no. 5); it isn't much yet, but I do hope to continue to add to it as time allows.

Dark Shadows Transcripts

I recently received a personal letter from Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie Evans and a host of other characters) that was very nice. I had been inquiring of her to publish a book (non-Dark Shadows related); she told me that Pomegranate Press was no longer publishing new works, and that they were trying to unload their backlog. She also wished me well with the project. I will treasure that letter for many years.

Thanks SO much for the links! Although I would rather see the actual eps, this will come in handy...BTW, I am at the point where Quentin Collins is being introduced, so I'm thinking another "flashback/time travel" arc is coming!

Eric,

You're welcome. I responded mostly to the subject line (episode guide); I wish you the best in finding episodes. I do know that YouTube has several of them there.

Enjoy the introduction of Quentin. Without giving too much away, his introduction may be one of the first times a character is introduced in such a manner.

Oh it is, it is! The 1897 storyline was DS' peak in popularity and it almost shifted the emphasis from Barnabas to Quentin, thanks to David Selby's fine work. Also, Thayer David plays perhaps the show's best male villain, Count Petofi. You're gonna love it!

Agreed. Selby was phenomenal in that role. And I too love Thayer David's work. For example, what a shift playing Matthew Morgan, and Ben Stokes, and Count Petofi, et al. I might say he was among the best, if not the best, actor in the entire series.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good online episode guide to "Dark Shadows"?

Here is some recent information provided by ShadowGram that I thought might be useful to Dark Shadows fans.

I receive these periodically. The one below (following the asterisks) includes information on an unproduced script (episode 628) that looks interesting. I would like to get a copy of this.

Here is the information for the actual episode 628 that did air. The Episode Guide lists November 20, 1968 as the original air date for this episode.

Episode: 628
MPI Tape: Dark Shadows Volume 079 (MP5079)
Original Air Date: 11-20-1968
Opening Voiceover: Grayson Hall
Timeline: 1968

Cast:
Nicholas Blair: Humbert Allen Astredo
Dr. Julia Hoffman: Grayson Hall
Diabolos: Duane Morris
Angelique Bouchard Collins: Lara Parker
Adam: Robert Rodan
Maggie Evans: Kathryn Leigh Scott

Summary: Angelique is taken to (hell?) where she tells Diabolos (the Devil?) that Nicholas is failing him. Nicholas is warned by Diabolos that he must appear before him to account for his actions.

ROGER DAVIS (Jeff, Peter, Dirk, Charles Delaware Tate) plans to attend during the weekend.

Shortly before the convention, the Fest will send the following update by postal-mail to all pre-registered Fest members. SG premieres the update here:

DARK SHADOWS RESURRECTED

Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel & Convention Center
2500 Hollywood Way, Burbank, CA 91505 (818) 843-6000

ADMISSION : $30.00 for all 3 days or $15.00 for 1 day.
Children 6-12 half price. Above rates by mail until July 10th, thereafter at the door only.

GUESTS & AUTOGRAPHS
Appearing in person: Jonathan Frid, David Selby, Lara Parker, John Karlen, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Roger Davis, Marie Wallace, Jerry Lacy, Chris Pennock, Robert Rodan, Robert Cobert and Sy Tomashoff. Autographs will be signed during much of the weekend at tables in the foyer. Please note that Jonathan Frid has pre-signed photographs for banquet attendees only and will not be signing any other items.

JONATHAN FRID ON STAGE
On Saturday, special guest Jonathan Frid will host The Growth Of Barnabas, where he will screen and discuss a selection of original Dark Shadows highlights. On Sunday, Jonathan returns with An Odd Assortment Of Stage Events That Determined A Career, when he will present a selection of dramatic readings, including: Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare; The Rivals by Richard Brinsley Sheridan; And So To Bed by J.B. Fagan; Washington Square by Henry James; The Heiress by Augustus and Ruth Goetz; Introducing The Coronation Of A Desperate King: King Richard III (a stimulating feature from Frid's new DVD Frid-Evil, for sale exclusively during the weekend). There will then be a cooling off with a touch of evil from Don John the villain of Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare, followed by an old chestnut, Yma Dream, by Thomas Meehan. The latter is an hilarious mix of tongue twisters and a Frid classic. Frid's performance will be capped with a surprise from Ithaca, New York -- Frid like you've never witnessed him before. His appearances will close with question-and-answer sessions.

DAVID SELBY ON STAGE
On Saturday afternoon, special guest David Selby will offer a dynamic double-header, starting with material from his Lincoln's Better Angel, the title of his latest book, which reflects on the personal impact of war and historical perspective. Following his dramatic presentation, David will take questions from the audience about both his new new projects and his days as Quentin on Dark Shadows.

LOST SCRIPT PERFORMED BY ORIGINAL ACTORS
On Sunday afternoon, for the first time ever, an unproduced script from Dark Shadows has been unearthed and will be performed on stage with all of the original actors. The script, intended as episode 628 for airing on November 20, 1968, was written by series writer Gordon Russell but was thrown out by executive producer Dan Curtis when he decided to speed up the finale of the storyline involving Adam, Eve, Jeff Clark and Angelique as a vampire.

MEMORABILIA AUCTION
At 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, a wide variety of rare and desirable DARK SHADOWS collectibles will be offered at auction, with proceeds to benefit a charity to be chosen by the DS actors. Among the featured materials will be original DARK SHADOWS memorabilia from the 1960s and many unique items.

VIDEO SCREENINGS
The M-G-M motion pictures HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS (1970) and NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS (1971), will be screened, plus the 1972 Dan Curtis thriller THE NORLISS TAPES, starring Roy Thinnes. Also: fan-created videos, serving as DS tributes, rare Joan Bennett material and a preview of lost footage from NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS, now being restored. Jonathan Frid's 40th Anniversary highlights and other surprises are also scheduled.

DARK SHADOWS REBORN
Big Finish Productions have issued over a dozen new DARK SHADOWS episodes with the original cast on audio CD format. More dramas are on the way, including an audio book adaptation of Lara Parker's novel "Angelique's Descent." Stuart Manning will discuss these extensions of the DS legacy and the exciting plans that lie ahead.

SUNDAY NIGHT BANQUET & JONATHAN FRID AUTOGRAPHED PHOTO
The July 20th DARK SHADOWS dinner at the Burbank Airport Marriott still has a few openings available. For those of you who have reservations for the dinner, tickets will be distributed at the hotel just prior to the dinner. Please bring your receipt with you at that time. Your autographed photo from Jonathan Frid will be given to you when you pick up your badge at registration. Please note that Jonathan will not be autographing any other items.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good online episode guide to "Dark Shadows"?

Scott:

Without getting too much off topic, are there any DS Conventions that you are aware of that are held in the Midwest (Chicago is only an hour away from me)? I think it's amazing how many of the original cast embrace the fan base of this show and I would LOVE to attend one of these at least once.
