The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show

With The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show: Season 1, Volume 1 to come out on DVD by June, the time has now come for me to open up a topic about this block show, which ran on ABC Saturday mornings from November 8, 1980 (October 4, 1980 for all you West Coasters, including yours truly) to September 18, 1982.

The Scooby-Doo part of the show - the 2nd season of Scooby and Scrappy-Doo - has Don Messick voicing both Scooby and Scrappy (Lennie Weinrib had voiced Scrappy in the 1979-80 season).

What was the original format [of The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show like, and how did it break down?] Also, what were the original closing credit themes like (pre-syndication) and did they play back-to-back, with Hanna-Barbera's 1979 Swirling Star logo reserved for the last set of closing credits?

NOTE: Let's hope that Warner Bros. Entertainment has found the original 1980 ABC masters for this show. We don't want to get miffed over on this like they had done with The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour DVD.

Thank you,

Ben (ClassicTVFan1981)

Re: The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show

This sounds like its the second season that had 7 hour long episodes, instead of the longer first season of 13 hour long episodes.Very strange, but ill still get it just to have the richie cartoons.

Re: The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show

Some pre order sites have this listed as a running time of 287 minutes, while some others list it at 320 minutes. Which one is the real running time ??????

Re: The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show

Consider the show's format had originally ran 1 hour (though for the 1981-82 season it unofficially ran for 90 minutes with the addition of Ruby-Spears' Goldie Gold & Action Jack) and it consisted of:
*Richie Rich - Treasure Chest (3 min)
*Scooby & Scrappy-Doo (7 min)
*Richie Rich - Gems (3 min)
*Scooby & Scrappy-Doo (7 min)
*Richie Rich - Riches (4 min)
*Scooby & Scrappy-Doo (7 min)
*Richie Rich - Zillion-Dollar Adventures (11 min)
