Will the second season of Streets of San Francisco be made?

I had such a fun time watching season one. I sure hope they make the rest of this series.

Fantastic show. One of my favorites growing up in the seventies.

I was so looking forward to this series arrival on DVD. When it came out, I snapped it right up.
What I didn't realize was that is was a split season. I still haven't gotten around to picking up vol. 2 yet.

I really don't like splitting up the seasons. If season 2 is released and is split as well, I may just pass on it.

I was just watching it last night. One of the better cop shows of the 70s and one that certainly holds up well. The split seasons scare me though as it means twice as many releases have to meet their "sale point" to keep going. Unless because they are making more money on the deal with the split sets they lower the expected amount they have to sell to make it viable to them. But I can live with the 6-month schedule they seem to be on for Streets, Untouchables, Fugitive and hopefully Mod Squad and Love American Style will stay on that same routine.

That is great news. I am a junkie for classic cop/detective shows like this (including Hawaii Five-0, Cannon, Rockford, Magnum, Switch) so naturally I picked up Season 1 on a blind buy and enjoyed both volumes. Douglas and Malden have a nice chemistry together and while some of the stories are pretty routine, they are still entertaining. Plus, I enjoy the guest stars that seemed to rotate through a lot of these series over the years.

It's great that CBS Paramount has enjoyed enough success on a relatively obscure show (its barely syndicated anymore) that they are moving forward with another season, even if it is split.

It should be coming soon, afterall they did do a complete S1 set too, why would they do that if it was an abandoned show. More soon, please!

Re: Will the second season of Streets of San Francisco be made?

This really is a well done show and the picture quality is excellent. Everyone that has seen an episode wants to watch more- I don't think many remember how good this show was. I remember the local tv station would air an old episode each night and then later on I could watch the new episode- I want to say this was Thursday night? I really can't remember- heck that was thirty years ago! I am really into late 60's and early 70's cars and I find myself watching episodes several times just to catch all the cars and things we don't see every day any more.

I've been enjoying Streets on the Retro TV Network.

They did not do a complete season 1 set. What they released was the two split season sets wrapped together. If they did a complete set, I'd have bought it, but since it was split, I passed.

Re: Will the second season of Streets of San Francisco be made?

Great news David!
Just got Vol 2 in two days ago (from the DD sale ...I think I paid $24).

I'm hoping they'll stick with it for at least 3 seasons (I think it ran 5 originally, with the last one replacing Douglas with Richard Hatch). I don't remember my reaction to the Hatch episodes, but I imagine Douglas would be a hard act to follow. Him and Malden just had great chemistry right off the bat, and though I'm not much of a fan today, he definitely seemed to have that 'movie star quality' vibe in the show to me.

I don't have a problem taking a half season every 6 months compared to a full season once a year...just as long as they keep 'em up, and keep the quality high. Fun to look forward to a regular fix of this and then Fugitive a month or two later, and soon the Mod Squad.

I have been holding out waiting to see if they go back to a full season release with S2 as there are less episodes the rest of the way per season. If that is the case i hope to find out before the DDD sale and i will order V1 and V2 right away. I do not like volumes at all...

Dave any chance S2 will be a complete season ?

I don't care how they release them- even if they were put out one episode at a time I would be in line to buy them.
