Lost/Pulled Episodes Conundrum?

Dear Fellow DVD-philes:

Some of my holy grails include episodes that have been pulled from the regular syndication runs of their program. For example, "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command," (you can stop laughing now) has two episodes that have been pulled from their Disney Channel runs since they were first shown on the UPN network seven years ago.

The two episodes are "SuperCharged," and "Conspiracy." I wrote to one of the executive producers of the show and he guessed that since 9-11, the "Conspiracy" episode might have been deemed to strong for little kids since than.

Mind you. . We're talking about Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. Anyway, I've written to Disney Channel years ago, asking that they show those episodes again, since I missed them the first time they were played. And nothing's happened.

Another situation, the short-lived Spy Games series that ran 10 years ago, still had 4 unaired episodes. As befits all the programs I loved, it got promptly cancelled. And I still hope some rerun channel will show them someday.

There was also a "Pinky, Elmira, and the Brain," episode I missed. (Yes, I can still hear you laughing now), and while everyone else hated it. I loved the Pinky and the Brain act, even when they were teamed up with Elmira. Ok. I'm not that picky when it comes to shows I like.

Anyway. Outside of writing letters to the studios, does anybody else have any ideas on how to get these "lost" episodes out there again.

Writing to the studios won't do you a bit of good. What is your motivation, to acquire these things to complete your collection of them or just to see them? I'm not really sure what it is you desire to do. But I would look to find them overseas. Just because episodes are pulled or a show gets cancelled early in the U.S. doesn't mean they don't run elsewhere. Of course Spy Games, if it's what I think it is (horribly written show with the blonde daughter from Kate and Allie), would have probably run in another country shortly after here. Ten years later may be a little late to start looking for it. But I would google the internet and see if these things were recorded and wound up in someone's collection.

Around 1992 there was a pulled episode of Sesame Street in which Snuffleupagus's parents divorced. They said it made the test audience of kids cry. It should be released if the Old School collection ever gets that far.

If all you wanted was to see them, this seems like the perfect situation for studios to put individual episodes online, perhaps at a site like hulu.com. Advertisement supported streaming video. Or perhaps they should sell them as singles on iTunes or something.
