Player specific problem with I Dream Of Jeannie season 4
I got the set last week and started to play it on my Pioneer 606D (a machine from 1998 in great working condition). Going first to my favorite episode on disc 1 "Jeannie and The Wild Pipchicks", I selected it and after (the signature Sony DVD TV episode set annoyance) the locked FBI warnings passed the episode began to play. After 3 seconds the sound cuts out first then the picture freezes. If I press pause and play, it will play forward again for a few seconds to a half a minute then the sound will cut out then the picture freezes again.
This happens on only two episodes, "Jeannie and the Wild Pipchicks" and "Djinn, Djinn Go Home" on this first disc. The rest of the discs work perfectly on my machine. Also, playing the affected episodes on my newer couple of machines and the computer shows no problems.
So, obviously, something about the encoding in those 2 episodes is causing my Pioneer(the machine I've been able to play practically every non-defective disc on) to choke on only those 2 episodes.
I put into Amazon for a return, got the return. Identitical problem on disc one with those 2 episodes.
I wonder if the encryption is tripping up the Pioneer so I decrypt and back up those episodes with DVD Shrink onto DVD-R. The problem still is there on the backup.
So, has anyone who has gotten this set had a problem with these episodes on one of thier machines and does anyone have an insight as to the problem.
