An Appeal To Warner Bros.
To Whom I May Concern At Warner Bros. DVD TV Division,
Recently, Jane Wyman passed away at the age of 93. Her contributions to film and television have been many. For those who are products of the 80's and the culture that gave us such benchmarks in television entertainment, I would like to respectfully ask that you take the following post into consideration.
I would like to appeal to you for the opportunity to allow the fans of FALCON CREST, and they are many, evidenced by several popular websites devoted to the series, the chance to own one of the greatest vintages TV has ever produced.
With the 2007 holiday season approaching in just a few months, can we not finally be given the gift from Warner Bros. so many people really want to own? FALCON CREST is one of those 80's benchmarks in classic TV that like age, has really stood the test of time.
Why is it that the classic shows like FALCON CREST have to sit on shelves collecting dust in the vats, or as termed by the studios, the vaults so more recent and in some cases, less entertaining television shows get the star treatment. It was the classic shows that put stars like Jane Wyman back on the television landscape and gave TV the shot in the arm it so desperately needed in the 80's.
I'm sure other fans would agree that had FALCON CREST lasted only one season...well, then maybe we could understand and even accept the fact that it continues to be overlooked. But look at the numbers: Nine seasons. Two hundred Twenty-seven hour long episodes. Enough stars to aim a telescope at and see constellations on the screen. This is our show. These are our characters, and this was our weekly escape. Please don't deny FALCON CREST fans our favorite series. Please release it to us so we can own it and relive the family feuding and the great scenery, the classic theme, and the ruthless Angela Channing fighting for supreme dominence over the land that so many have tried to take away from her.
Let a new generation of fans experience it for the first time, and the older fans the chance to recapture, well...whatever it was that captured us back in its prime.
Jane Wyman should be immortalized forever by those who want to raise a toast to her lasting contributions to enthralling storytelling and a character that will stand the time tested and fan approved stories she and the rest of the FALCON CREST cast and crew brought us week after week in the 80's.
Just because a new century has dawned new and unimagined shows; the endless reality genre, or the multiple spin-offs of crime and detective shows in their various carnations...these shows of relevance don't make classics like FALCON CREST irrellevant.
Please consider FALCON CREST for a season by season release so the fans of this great and classic Warner Bros. vintage can salute its writers and cast for a job well done, and also raise a glass of wine...or in this case, our FALCON CREST DVD box sets as a toast to you Warner Bros., for one of the most enduring and lasting classic television shows you ever put your stamp on.
If you do feel FALCON CREST has no place in your release schedule now or forever, would you possibly consider selling it to a studio that might be willing to do it justice in a welcomed DVD release? Please do that for us. The gesture would be greatly appreciated.
