Re: One Lucy Show is Bonus on Untouchables Season One Vol 2
Everyone let paramount know we want more Lucy!!! I really think that paramount is missing the boat on "The Lucy Show". In my mind it would have been no trouble at all to put a preview trailer on the "I Love Lucy" complete series set bonus disk. Something to the effect of "...coming soon, the further adventures of Lucy and Viv". They could have shown clips of Lucy on the trampoline, Lucy and Viv in the shower, putting up a TV antenna, Lucy on her electric mattress, Lucy singing a sheep to sleep, etc.
I bet a lot of younger "I Love Lucy" fans (and some forgetful older fans )don't know about or don't remember the wonderful first season of "The Lucy Show". They think the show is just Lucy and Mr. Mooney at the bank. I think if people were to see a trailer like this on the "I Love Lucy" set, they would get very excited about purchasing season 1 of "The Lucy Show". Just my 2 cents.

The first 3 seasons with Vance were good, unfortunately it went south from there, leading to the virtually unwatchable Here's Lucy series.

Well if they think I'm buying the Untouchables just to prove that I want The Lucy Show they are sadly mistaken.

Many people would say the same thing about buying The Lucy Show just to prove that they want all of the The Untouchables released.

Truer words were never written. I've watched some episodes recently on a local channel. The Lucy Carmichael of the first 3 seasons was Lucy Ricardo, basically -- wacky, but quick-witted and clever -- a basically endearing character. The last 3 seasons she morphed into a dumbbell with no redeeming features. And, yes, HERE'S LUCY at its worst was one of the stupidest shows in TV history, and at its "best" dull and unfunny.

Well, once more we seem to think alike. I'd buy up the first 3 seasons of "THE LUCY SHOW" in quick order if Paramount would release them. And I'm fairly confident they will do just that in the very near future. But I have little interest to go any further in that particular series. And I have zero interest in buying "HERE'S LUCY" at all.
A few months ago Oldies.com was having a big reduction on the best of set that Shout! released a couple of years ago so I took a gamble and bought it (not really remembering the show all that well). Needless to say I'm glad I paid less than $10 for it, because it just didn't hold up well at all. Even my two daughters, who love Lucille Ball, watched a couple of episodes and gave up on it. And they love all the old sitcoms that Dad watches. It just wasn't a good show - at all.
Gary "I definitely want those first few 'LUCY SHOW' seasons, but that's it" O.

I'm guessing that this is a good indicator that Paramount is looking to release The Lucy Show.

Re: One Lucy Show is Bonus on Untouchables Season One Vol 2
It will be interesting to see if CBS did any restoration work on the episode.
If they did and it looks good, I would say that was a good indication of a possible The Lucy Show DVD release. If it looks crappy and/or is the syndicated version, I would say it doesn't mean anything about a Lucy Show DVD release.
What really would be good is if they had licensed the Saturday Night Live sketch which combined the Untouchables with I Love Lucy where Desi Arnaz played the gangster and Gilda Rayner played Lucy. " They shot Fred and Ethel, Waaaaah". Funny stuff.

OMG! Yes! Definitely a great idea. Paramount should have used this for marketing The Lucy Show on dvd. It would definitely have helped TLS on dvd.
Anyhow, I think they will, at the very least, go ahead and release the first season on dvd. It is the season that most-resembles I Love Lucy minus Ricky and Fred. It is the best out of the series and one that I would love to own.

Re: One Lucy Show is Bonus on Untouchables Season One Vol 2
I'm beating a horse that died over 40 years ago, but actually "The Lucy Show" declined in quality in its third season, because her old writers Madelyn and Bob quit. It held up fairly well that third season, though, because at least Viv was still there and Weiskopf and Schiller contributed a few episodes.
But that fourth season, when Viv had had enough, and Lucy fired the kids, moved to California, went to work for Mr. Mooney -- ecchhhh!!!! And I have wondered for these 40 years if she really, truly couldn't see that the show wasn't as good as it used to be. Didn't she care?

It would be good though if they included "Lucy's Impossible Mission" (Here's Lucy) on one of the Mission Impossible sets.
