The Ghost Busters-Live Action! The Complete Series

Just bought this and I wanted to warn you that the prints they used are not much better than VHS quality. I got burned one other time and that was for "War of the Worlds-The TV Series", which was even worse condition.

I told myself that I would wait for a review first before I bought another TV show from a small company and I'll be damned if I didn't do it again.

...retired at last!!!

It was shot on video in the mid-70s. That's pretty much the best you're going to get.

Consitering these were shot on video, and that the master-tapes that exist are actually copies, and not the originals, explain a lot.

FILMATION's library has been through several owners since they closed down production in the mid-1980's - it's no wonder their library is such a mess. Unlike the KROFTT library that has surived in GREAT shape.

Still,of all the Filmation series, this was consitered 'lost' at one point!

I compared the DVD set which I found at the library to my Beta copies (haha, yes I still have a Beta VCR..), and the Beta version did look a lot cleaner. I guess this is one of those shows though, be glad it's on DVD at all. It's been OOP for nearly 20 years.

Mobu? Sounds like some sort of damn car polish.

I was thinking - did BCI actually check the CBS vaults in California and New York/NJ to see if any BETTER prints/vt might be kicking around of the FILMATION shows?

It's my understanding that some Live-action Ghostbusters Tapes were wiped.

And just what exactly were you expecting from a low budget saturday morning kids show from 35 years ago?

I believe they were required to use what Entertainment Rights sent them. There was some minor footage missing from the He-Man sets that were going to be included as bonus features (from VHS copies), but the ER legal department wouldn't allow it.

Exactly. Even if we would've found pristine originals and remastered/digitized them at our expense we would not have been allowed to use them.
