WHV Press Release: Christmas Television Favorites Collection

WARNER HO-HO-HOME VIDEO
CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAYS WITH THE RELEASE OF
CHRISTMAS TELEVISION FAVORITES COLLECTION
ON DVD OCTOBER 2, 2007

Christmas Television Favorites Collection Features
Eight Cherished Holiday Classics Presented in an Eye-Catching Collectible Package

BURBANK, CA (September 4, 2007) – Breakout the eggnog, trim the Christmas tree and cozy up in your warmest flannels to watch some of television’s most beloved holiday animated classics when Warner Home Video (WHV) releases the Christmas Television Favorites collection on October 2, 2007. A perfect gift idea for both boys and girls, who have been good all year-long, the Christmas Television Favorites collection will retail for $39.72 SRP.

Presented in unique, eye-catching, collectible packaging reminiscent of a classic book with foil accents, the Christmas Television Favorites collection showcases eight legendary animated holiday specials on four discs. Featured specials include the memorable How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Deluxe Edition, Horton Hears a Who!, The Year Without a Santa Claus Deluxe Edition, Rudolph’s Shiny New Year, Nestor the Long-eared Christmas Donkey, Frosty’s Winter Wonderland, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas as well as Rudolph and Frosty’s Christmas in July.

Summary of specials featured in the Christmas Television Favorites collection:

How the Grinch Stole Christmas Deluxe Edition -- Originally directed by animation genius and cartoon legend Chuck Jones, this Dr. Seuss’ classic tells the story of the mean and hateful Grinch who devises a plan to steal Christmas away from the Whos of Whoville. This remastered holiday classic will be enjoyed by the entire family.

Horton Hears a Who! -- Based on the classic Dr. Seuss’ children’s story, Horton Hears a
Who! introduces viewers to Horton the Elephant who struggles to protect a microscopic community of intelligent beings called the Whos from the other animals around him who think he’s gone mad.

The Year Without a Santa Claus Deluxe Edition – This newly remastered classic recounts the story of the year Santa Claus decides to take a vacation from Christmas.

Rudolph’s Shiny New Year -- When the baby New Year named Happy goes missing, Father Time (voiced by Red Skelton) asks Rudolph to find him before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Nestor the Long-eared Christmas Donkey -- Back in the days of the Roman Empire, a small donkey named Nestor who is teased mercilessly about his abnormally long ears, becomes a hero when he is chosen by Mary and Joseph to take them to Bethlehem where Mary gives birth to baby Jesus.

Frosty’s Winter Wonderland -- When Frosty feels lonely, the kids think of making him a wife named Crystal.

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas -- The citizens of a small town are up in arms when Santa Claus decides to take them off his gift delivery schedule after he receives an anonymous letter claiming he does not exist.

Rudolph and Frosty’s Christmas in July -- Frosty and his family are given magic amulets by the evil Wizard Winterbolt so they won’t melt as they attend the circus on the Fourth of July where Rudolph is the star, however, plans to return to the North Pole backfire due to Winterbolt’s evil plan. Will Frosty get back to the North Pole before it’s too late?

“Watching these Christmas specials on TV each holiday season has become a tradition with families. To some, their broadcast signifies the start of the holiday season. Knowing how much consumers love these programs, we decided to make them available in one beautiful, distinctive boxed set to illustrate how special they are,” commented Dorinda Marticorena, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Sports Marketing. She added, “Parents who grew up with these programs now want to pass them along to their own children so they can enjoy the rich, wonderful stories and important messages that are presented in each of the specials. We are delighted to offer the Christmas Television Favorites in time for the holidays.”

I think the lack of Hanna-Barbera specials is Pretty egregious (Where's Yogi's First Christmas or one of the Flinstones Christmas specials in all of this)

The Flintstone's Christmas Carol is being released 10/2/07 the same day as Christmas Television Favorites. As a bonus the Christmas episode from the original series where Fred fills in for Santa is included.

There's just one shopping day until Christmas! Fred is so wrapped up in his acting debut as Scrooge in the Bedrock production of "A Christmas Carol" that he's completely forgotten to buy any gifts. And worse, he's left baby Pebbles stranded at Cave Care Center! But wife Wilma and a few familiar ghosts perform a true Christmas miracle, helping hubby Fred remember the true meaning of the season. Join Barney, Betty, Bam Bam, and Dino in this hilarious stone-age version of the magical holiday classic.
Special Features:
Additional Scenes - Bonus Episode: Christmas Fred Flintstone fills in for Santa in this song-filled holiday classic the entire family will love.

I'd personally like to see "A Flintstone Christmas" released, which is the special from 1977. That one holds very fond childhood memories for me.

677 titles and counting......

Re: WHV Press Release: Christmas Television Favorites Collection

I have all those specials on DVD except Cricket on the Hearth- I've never seen it, and I've a suspicion I'm not the only one. So why isn't it available as a solo disc?

Re: WHV Press Release: Christmas Television Favorites Collection

They could release an entire disc of Flintstones stuff, beyond what was already released. There's the Flintstones Christmas Carol from the '90s, A Flintstones Christmas from the '70s, the original Christmas episode and another Christmas special from the mid-'90s that, I believe, only aired once.
