Tv Show Box Sets (Commercials included)
Im curious if there was any season sets that included original commercials?
Only reason I ask, when starting up Greatest Americna hero, I saw the producton commercial with the guy on the typewriter and he flicks the paper in the air and it lands on the stack of papers. "Stephen J. Cannell"
Brought back memories.

That's fanfare, not a commercial.

right. but the initial question stands. I figured if they could throw that in, why not commercials as well.
not sure how many people want to see commercials anyways.

Re: Tv Show Box Sets (Commercials included)
Are you talking about commercials for the show or the commercials that appeared during the show?
If they are the commercials promoting the show, that would be easier.
If you're talking the actual commercials - like you see (illegally) in some budget releases - that's a different ballgame. You might need to clear the commercial with the company that owns the product/service, and you'd definitely need to clear any music used in the commercial.

The Ed Sullivan Show Beatles set includes most of the original ads; I understand a cigarette ad or two was replaced.

Monkees boxset had their ads - exception being a Kool Aid ad that teamed them up with Bugs Bunny.
Also there were ads on the Flintstones ads, the Beverly Hillbillies Superman, Rocky and Bullwinkle, You Bet Your Life and I Love Lucy.

Commercials during the original airing of the show.
Like a cereal commercial or a car commercial, etc.

Thanks, I might have to get "the Monkees"
I actually wasnt a fan of the show, but i knew the song. It came on super early in the morning, and none of the good cartoons were on yet, so id watch it to pass time.

Yeah, those are tough. Right now we're watching episodes of Family Feud and the masters include the commercials. They're a lot of fun, but almost everyone has us saying "That song would cost a fortune to clear."

If they didn't include the fanfare, I would consider the episode to be edited and incomplete. Not as bad as editing the rest of the episode, but still.
I'd rather have a compilation of commercials on a separate set. The ones with licensed music might be expensive, but you'd think the rest should be cheap, especially if the company/product is still in the business.
