Cagney and Lacey season 2
Apparently C&L season 1 didn't sell as well as expected according to cagneyandlacey.com the producer says "Don't hold your breath for season 2" bad news, I wish they would release it...

Re: Cagney and Lacey season 2
Well, they should have added the movie and the actual season 1 for incentive. I felt they were trying to fool everyone by calling it season 1.

Let's see.
Promotion: None
First episodes: No
If, as Barney Rosenzweig says, the market for older TV programming on DVD is dying, the cause of death is murder via negligence.

Re: Cagney and Lacey season 2
This show, like many others, hasn't been on in regular syndication since I was a natural blonde. It's certainly not very well known to younger consumers. This doesn't surprise me a bit. Yet another great, intelligent adult-oriented show that appears to be dead in the water.
It's hard to feel sorry for older viewers who claim there's nothing good to watch on television when terrific shows like this come out and not enough people buy them. It makes me think that current audiences deserve the crap that's currently on TV. They certainly don't seem interested in quality entertainment.

Re: Cagney and Lacey season 2
David, I'll have to take issue with you. I bought season 1... or what they called season 1... and I had watched the show in syndication on Lifetime as a teenager and remembered liking it. The problem was when I sat down to watch the DVDs I found that it simply didn't live up to the current crop of crime dramas, or other past ones. Give me Homicide, NYPD Blue (another abandoned show), or the Shield any day over Cagney & Lacey. I found that it didn't age well.

Re: Cagney and Lacey season 2
MGM should've released it a couple years back when Queer As Folk was popular, to cash in on Sharon Gless' presence

Re: Cagney and Lacey season 2
I hope that we see more released. I thought it held up very well. I still don't see a show today where the main focus is on two women police officers. So until there is i don't think it is fair to compare it to todays stuff.
As for Sharon Gless she is in a brand new series on USA Network called "Burn Notice" I highly recommend fans of 80's tv check this out. Even though it is a new show it would fit perfectly in the 80's being a mix of Magnum, MacGyver, Equalizer and The A-Team. Finally a fun show to watch that could have been made 20 years ago.

Re: Cagney and Lacey season 2
Hopefully this will sell a lot during Christmas when older kids wonder what to get mom.
What other series does MGM have to release besides this, Flipper, Green Acres & Mr. Ed?

They also have Fame, which may be stuck in one-and-done hell.

Re: Cagney and Lacey season 2
I just received the first Cagney & Lacey dvd set yesterday and I LOVE it!! I already watched 2 episodes and I must say the show is excellent. I had watched it growing up but I haven't seen it in a long time. When I heard it was coming to dvd, I planned on getting a copy. I have to say one major problem which effected sales was probably not knowing it was available and not being able to find it in stores. It was not promoted in any of my local stores and, on the day of release, I couldn't find it anywhere. When I found it at an FYE, it was priced at $39.99. You can get it anywhere online for much cheaper than that. So, I waited and finally got a copy at a reasonable price. Had I not been checking out the message boards, I would not know this set existed. I think more people would have bought a copy if it was, at least, advertised in the Sunday circular.
I'm sorry to see sales did not live up to expectation because I would definitely buy a follow-up release. It's a very enjoyable show and both actresses shine.

Re: Cagney and Lacey season 2
I also ordered it last week.
Just thought I would get it for my birthday but didn't!
So hopefully it will arrive soon.
Really hope that more seasons will come our way, as this show is truly superb.
