Timeless didn't get transfers directly from Universal on this release and others, like "Checkmate" and "Arrest and Trial." They are simply getting the license to release "M Squad" on DVD from Universal but have to come up with their own print sources, which include 16 mm prints submitted by collectors, hence the disparity in the picture quality from one episode to the next. It may be not the most ideal way of releasing a television series, but at least Timeless has resurrected a number of older shows that would never have received a major studio release.
