Newhart?
Has anyone heard any rumblings about a possible Season 1 release of Newhart- the eighties sitcom set at a Vermont inn?

Re: Newhart?
I highly doubt it, seeing how they use season 1 of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" as a measuring stick for all shows they acquired from the MTM library.

Re: Newhart?
According to the recent WKRP article, MTM season 1 has sold over 150,000 copies. This should certainly be enough to justify a barebones release of a show like "Newhart".

Re: Newhart?
Unfortunately, season 1 is not the best season of the show. It is good, but it gets better in season 2 when they replace Jennifer Holmes as Leslie with Julia Duffy as Stephanie, and then better still in season 3 when Peter Scolari joins the cast.
First seasons tend to sell the best no matter what the circumstances, but that's partly because they never advertise, and if they do they only advertise season 1. This is a problem with all studios. I saw TV ads for Dallas S1/S2, but none for subsequent seasons.
I just hope they don't try the same hatchet job they pulled on WKRP in Cincinnati for what few songs are used in the show (some of them even made it onto the MTM Home Video releases).

Re: Newhart?
I'd like to see it released. I haven't watched it in years but what I do remember it was a pretty funny series.

Re: Newhart?
Newhart ran for 8 seasons. I'd say it was highly successful, top ten rated show, one of the best of the MTM series.

Re: Newhart?
Newhart is my favorite Bob Newhart shows. Season 1 was kinda weak but got better after that. I'm ready for this to be released.

Re: Newhart?
Character actor Dabbs Greer has passed away as well. Age 90. A tremendous body of work:
