Shout! Factory to get new distribution
I read this morning while checking their community forum that they are getting a new distribution for their non music DVDs. It goes into an effect with their releases in June. Has anyone heard of Vivendi Visual Entertainment? I'm just curious.

Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!
A massive letter-writing campaign to ABC is being timed each Thursday. October Road co-creator/ Beautiful Girls screenwriter Scott Rosenberg has recently told fans on the ABC.com message board to "fight on." Got drumsticks? We're targeting for them to arrive on Monday, December 15th. Please help in the fight to bring his Beautiful Girls spin-off, October Road, back to the airwaves.

Universal Music Group, who I can only hope have better QC and CS than Universal Studios.

Re: Shout! Factory to get new distribution
Shout did an excellent job working with Dick Cavett in getting his old ABC late-night talk shows on DVD. I've purchased every set except the one containing 3 episodes with guest Ray Charles (which I will buy eventually).

Re: Shout! Factory to get new distribution
I agree about the Cavett sets – the Hollywood Greats set was a 99% blind buy for me after I caught a bit of the Katharine Hepburn interview on TCM. I was thrilled with the whole set, and since then I've bought the other two available (Comic Legends, Rock Icons). I really, really hope there are more in the works.

For those who enjoyed the Dick Cavett sets, here's a thread that was started last month on this very subject. They do read and respond to posts on their community forum so if they have any news I'd imagine you'll get a response at some point. In the meantime, you can add your supports here:

Re: Shout! Factory to get new distribution
I thought I bump this up to ask what else people would like to see more of through Shout or for them to release. Personally, and they no longer have the rights to it, but I would like to see the rest of Jamie Oliver's series, "Oliver Twist". I don't think the Food Network is airing any of his series at present, so I would like to complete my collection with Shout's and Capital’s (now own by First Look Media) releases of this series. I wouldn't mind seeing TLC's "Jamie's School Lunch Project" and The Travel Channel's "Jamie's Great Italian Escape". Maybe Shout! can get the rights again from Fremantle and Fresh One Productions.
Since "Dobie Gillis" was in the planning stages and Fox hit a "rights issue" with the estate, I can forget about the request I made to Shout! awhile back. I just hope Fox can come to an agreement with the Max Shulman estate. I want those "Dobie" season sets.
I still would like to see the company release "Ed" to DVD. But given that "Ed" is in a "rights issue" of its own (excluding the music side) according to a recent news item on TVShowsOnDVD.com, this probably won't happen through them. There's a fan that works at Shout! Factory who would like to get it released, and after releasing "Freaks and Geeks" (which I should give another shot at after not liking the one episode I saw on Fox Family years ago), I would love and welcome their involvement. It doesn't have to be released through them... just help get it out there. There's a large fan base that would buy it as long it is treated by a passionate fan as Shout's Brian Ward.
I noticed someone brought up a "holiday" release for "Ozzie and Harriet" on the forums. Sounds like a great idea. I know my mom and a friend of mine would love to see that.

So what else would people like to see from Shout?

Well, since Shout! is now working with Universal, the first thing that I'd like to see is the completion of the many series that Universal has seemingly abandoned, series like "Kojak," "Dragnet," "Adam-12," "Leave It To Beaver," etc., etc., etc.
Beyond that, there are plenty of series that Revue Studios (purchased by Universal in the 1950s for the purposes of television prouction) produced in the 1950s and 1960s that Universal would never release, but Shout! conceivably could. Here are just a few . . .
State Trroper
M-Squad
Johnny Staccato (Universal released 1 episode on "Brilliant But Cancelled")
Wagon Train
Shotgun Slade (non PD episodes)
The Deputy
Riverboat
Laramie
The Virginian
Laredo
The Wide Country

Re: Shout! Factory to get new distribution
I wonder if Shout! could re-release Seasons 1 & 2 of "Quincy", after of course they release the remaining seasons and if there are enough sales to justify more releases. There was music replacement and they're on double-sided discs.

And you can add "It Takes A Thief" to your list too. A series Universal was originally suppose to release. It's been out of circulation for a very long time and given Shout's release of Ironside would seem to fall right in perfectly with their releases. Here's hoping anyways

Re: Shout! Factory to get new distribution
With Shout liscensing from Universal a sitcom (McHale's Navy) and a detective series (Ironside), I had a feeling a single western series might also join in the mix. But, it's been several months, and no new news has been forthcoming, so I guess I was all wrong.

Re: Shout! Factory to get new distribution
I'd like to see them license "Out Of This World". I haven't seen that since I was 8 or 9 and I recall enjoying what I saw. Now I would like to see the episodes in full.
It would also be nice if Shout! were able to get the rights to the show "California Dreams". I enjoyed that show a lot more than "Saved By The Bell", but I wonder why it's no longer in syndication...At least in the lower 48.
Sincerely,
John Kilduff...
Extras for both shows would be nice as well.
