Re: The Love Boat

It was interesting to see that three different directors did the various storylines during the show. Anyone have a clue if they shot concurrently so that it shortened the production schedule?

seeing George Jefferson and Aunt Esther as a married couple was worth this boxset.

hah are we talking Aunt "it's esther fool, sanford & son" Esther ?

I am looking forward to picking my set up tomorrow. All the hoopla and complaining i did about the release and it sounds like it may actually be worth the money after all. Hopefully this will do well in sales! I see it has a sale rank of #95 @ Amazon & #134 @ DVDEmpire. Sure online sales do not mean everything. But you have to like those kind of numbers.

Well i went to pick up my order and just couldn't do it after all. So, i got refunded for the Love Boat portion of my order and just got Magnum S8. Talk about going back n forth on something. Volume Sets just do not do it for me, I thought i would be able to get by that, but i guess i could not. I am going to try extra hard with Dynasty since i allready own 2-Seasons there. Ah Well!

Re: The Love Boat

Aryn, I know exactly how you feel. This is why I do not, under any circumstances, purchase "volume" sets while they only have to release half a season set.

I'm surprised noboyd here has realized that the studios are doing this with more frequency to boost their corporate profits. Why sell a 24 episode season set for $35 when you can spolit the season up into two releases and sell the sets for the same price.

Truth be told, the only sets that I have that were released as volume sets were Ultrman, the original series. Simply because the original series was too large to include on a single set. Some 40 episodes.

LOL! Right you are! It's amazing how fans of shows think they're "sticking it to" the studio when, in reality, they're only shooting themselves in the foot and denying themselves a show they'd like to own on DVD!

I guess "that'll learn 'em", eh? Now the companies will go back and re- release all their wanted TV shows in full season sets for $25 each ..... NOT!

It's not so much you want to own the show as it is do you want to own the show the way it is being sold to you. In a way i agree with you, heck i actually purchased the thing and upon arriving to pick up my order i couldn't go through with it. I guess what i am saying is i have gone 20+ years without seeing it. I can live without it going forward just fine, if it is not released the right way. Who knows though i have been so wishy washy i could easily change my mind again down the road during a ddd sale or a price drop when an actual full season is out to buy.

That is an excellent point. For example, I recently purchased one of my all-time favorite t.v. shows, The Mod Squad, but I really don't appreciate the packaging (split seasons). I will probably put the eight discs per season into one DVD eight-pack. And there are other shows that I have purchased, only to regret it somewhat because of the way these are being sold to consumers.

Re: The Love Boat

Ok, take a step back everyone and put down what you are drinking. I kid you not, i could not get the love boat theme out of my head all day today. So i proceeded to go back to best buy and purchase it earlier this evening. The same lady that credited me back for it yesterday was laughing when she noticed me checking out with it. I told her what can i do the theme song was stuck in my head all day and so i proceeded to recite it for her, since she seemed oblivious to how that would sound (she looked about 30 something, how could you have missed the love boat?). She was not that impressed mind you buhaha. I don't know why i am even admitting this. But i did say i was wishy washy did i not? Now feel free to mock me!

Okay Paramount, you see what you put me through. I expect after you finish S1V2 if you get that far and sales are good enough to release more. I want S2 in a complete set so i never have to go through this type of embarrasment again. You owe me that much
