Petticoat Junction

Has there been any word that I may have missed on more PJ on DVd-

I was rewatching the MPI Collection this evening. Say what you want, they really did a good job getting extras and making a documentary. I would love to see the rest of the first season and future seasons as well.

Does Paramount still own these? Is there anyone we could write to get more releases?

Anyone else like to see more PJ on DVD?

Re: Petticoat Junction

The first 21 were not under copyright and MPI licensed these from the Henning estate. The rest of the series is owned by Paramount so it would be up to them for any future releases.

Re: Petticoat Junction

I could have sworn there was a rumor (not an out-of-the-blue one, but one reported by a reputable site) near the end of 2005 or the beginning of last year that Paramount would begin releasing both "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Petticoat Junction" at some point in 2006. That of course has come and gone and we've not heard a thing since. Anyone else remember that?

Gary "of course it's also highly possible that I'm just going crazy and made the whole thing up in my mind - wouldn't be the first time" O.

Gary - you are not losing your mind; I remember reading the same thing. I think it was somewhere on this forum, but regardless of where we heard it, the shows seem to have been forgotten or lost in the shuffle. It could be that Paramount does not know how to handle the Hillbillies since MPI put out a mostly complete season and a half or there abouts. If they start with season 1, who will buy it since MPI already released it substantially complete.

Re: Petticoat Junction

Which is funny considering that BH was one of the shows Columbia House did tons of volumes on. Why they would put it out on VHS and ignore it on DVD is kind of confounding.

Re: Petticoat Junction

The Beverly Hillbillies was and is one of the most popular shows ever, so it's beyond me why whoever owns it has not done something with the DVD rights.
Also Petticoat Junction, though not as popular as BH, was still a well loved show throughout its run. What with all the popular shows of the sixties coming out now, one would think they would cash in on the craze. Even many of the kids today are discovering those timeless shows. As one who grew up on all those shows, I find them a refreshing alternative to the unpleasant trash turned out today.

Re: Petticoat Junction

So does anyone know who to contact about seeing these shows released on DVD?

I have the BH DVD's as well, and would love to see more...
