Henry Evans said it, so it can't be considered racist. Oh wait, "Maude" had white writers (so did "Good Times," so I hear).

That's too funny. I work with an African-American woman who is always talking about CPT. Then I saw it on these "Maude" discs. I didn't know it was such a widespread phrase.

OK.. I'm glad someone else brought this up.... Although not a HUGE deal, the first poster is indeed correct.... These
DVDs do use the same opening credits for all 22 episodes [I'm sure as do a lot of TV shows when they put them onto DVD.. they encode the opening credits once, then attach to all episodes]... However, the first two episodes DID have different credits, in that the first aired episode only listed Bea, Bill, and Adrienne.... then the second episode, which introduced us to Arthur, added in Conrad's name... then by the third aired episode, which introduced us to Florida, we then had the "complete" credits for Season One.... I noticed it from the very first viewing of the first episode that they didn't use the right opening titles, but sluffed it off, since it's really not a HUGE deal.... Now, keep in mind, I'm completely going off of my VHS collection that I recorded from TV Land back in 2001, but I can't see TV Land making an alteration like that... they had to be originally broadcast that way.... kind of ashame we dont have them that way on the DVDs, but again, not a huge deal....

I also noticed the little white spec, which is, yes, due to something on the camera lenses, as you'll see it disappear, then reappear, when they go to different camera shots, then back to that troubled one... Again, that doesn't really bother me too much, but something that did, which I haven't seen discussed thus far, was the presence of some lines of "discoloration" present in SOME of the episodes, usually about mid-screen, and usually only noticable when on a person's face... Anyone else notice that? Really not a BIG BIG deal, but, still annoying nonetheless.

whew... peace out

Jasonandrew... YES.. I did notice the discoloration lines, that is a problem inherent to videotape, I've seen several shows have it. And that is surprising since CBS usually had higher quality videotape than the other two networks (Case in point, look at 1974 episodes of the 10,000$ pyramid on CBS and compare with 1978 episodes of the 20,000$ pyramid on ABC, like night and day. )

Re: Announcing MAUDE : The Complete First Season DVD

Does anyone know the email or snail mail address for Sony for their TV dvd department? I suggest we all write to them about MAUDE, because I read in Variety Magazine that Sony is slowing down on their TV season sets, and sometimes only releases the first, and if it does extremely well, will consider more seasons. After reading what I read, I am concerned this first season is all we might get. Several of the problems that contribute to this decision could be low sales, plus they are having trouble placing all of these tv-series season sets in stores, they have run out of room.

If anyone knows how to contact Sony, please post it here so we can all make a strong request for seasons 2-and on.

Sony will have no one to blame but themselves if their shows fail. What's the threshold for whether a show gets continued? I bet it has seven digits. And would it kill them to do some advertising. A tvshowsondvd.com blurb announcing its release is NOT advertising.

Sony refuses to listen to anything customers have to say. If someone does manage to slip through the cracks of their consumer-hating infrastructure, their response is "La-la-la-la-la-la, I can't hear you!" But if you think it would make a difference, call this number: 1-800-860-2878

For what it's worth, this writer expects Sony to go bankrupt soon.

If this is true, I will shed not one tear.

Gamers don't like them.
DVD consumers don't like them.
Classic TV fans don't like them.
Closing logo aficionados hate their freakin' guts.

Does anyone actually LIKE this company anymore?

Hopefully they can sell COLUMBIA PICTURES (I refuse to call it or any of its divisions "Sony Pictures" anything) to someone who gives a damn. Heck, they were better off under Coca-Cola's ownership!

Re: Announcing MAUDE : The Complete First Season DVD

I will admit that Sony isn't so bad with music clearance. The Nanny had a lot of music that so far has all been cleared. It's just with the Married with Children and Dawson's Creek theme songs, which isn't as much their fault as the respective publishers, that they lapsed.

But when I heard a Sony rep make a public comment saying "Who needs more than one season of Sanford & Son?", which DID do well and is completed, I lost all respect for them.

They couldn't get "Love and Marriage?" How does each episode open? What plays?

This story I read quoted a Sony spokesperson as saying "Many people will be pleased with the season 1, at least we haveput those out for them." Wow, I thought.
