(December 4, 2006) – From the prolific pen of Creator/Executive Producer Darren Star (TV’s “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Melrose Place,” “Sex and the City”) comes Grosse Pointe: The Complete Series, starring Lindsay Sloane (TV’s “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”), Irene Molloy (TV’s “Andy Richter Controls the Universe”), Bonnie Somerville (TV’s “NYPD Blue”), Kohl Sudduth (Bowfinger) and Joely Fisher (TV’s “Desperate Housewives”). Debuting on DVD February 13, the two-disc set features all 17 episodes plus exclusive bonus materials and will be available for $29.95 SLP from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
Loosely based on Darren Star’s experiences while writing “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Grosse Pointe gives viewers a behind-the-scenes peek at the melodrama that goes on offscreen on a fictitious primetime teen soap opera. The comedy follows the lives of six young actors trying to adjust to the demands of instant stardom, as their hit show launches them into a world of premieres, paparazzi and power. There’s the two-faced diva, her insecure best friend, the wide-eyed newcomer who threatens the offscreen balance of power, the surfer stud, and the show’s resident (if balding) heartthrob. Guiding these “innocents” through the savage world of network presidents and last-minute rewrites are the producers, who live in constant fear that one misstep would sends ratings plummeting and their careers into oblivion. Guest stars from the first season include Kristen Davis (TV’s “Sex and the City”), Jason Priestly (TV’s “Beverly Hills, 90210”), Elizabeth Berkley (Showgirls), Gordon Thomson (TV’s “Dynasty”), Katie Wagner (TV Guide Channel) and Dweezil Zappa.
