Same here. Apparently Artisan are now falling prey to the same "less-less-less" stripped-down mentality of the other major studios, insofar as DVD inserts are concerned. I bought my copy of the
Dune: Director's Cut back in 2002 when it was first released, but I still see it at Wal-Mart and other places today. From what I understand, it's one of Artisan's all-time biggest sellers.
Great DTS track and audio commentaries, and the extended footage truly adds to the flavor of the piece. Glad I held out from purchasing that first, non-anamorphic release back in '01 that had so many folks up in a fit.

Or even a set containing that Susan Sarandon-hosted Sci-Fi Channel special focusing on the women of the
Dune saga (both the movies
and the books, from what I recall). What fat bag of crack were the DVD producers smoking when they decided to leave stuff like that off the
Children set? It ain't like there wasn't any room left for it on the second disc or anything. Sheesh.
That said, as far as a "director's cut" of
Children of Dune goes, I remember reading a John Harrison interview after it aired where he said that the final cut of
Children as it was broadcast was more or less the
de facto "director's version," as there was very little trimmed or changed, unlike the original
Dune mini. Though there might've been additional nudity chopped out of
Children...been awhile since I read that interview.
