Do you think "Alice" will have a chance at getting seasonal releases based on the sales of the TV favorites disc? This was one of my favorites shows growing up. I loved how Flo was considered the 'hot' one. Lots of great guests stars appeared on this show and Martha Raye joined the cast at one point.

This was also one of my favorite shows. I checked 4 stores looking for the the television favorites disc one week after it got released, and couldn't find it anywhere! Here are the stores I checked: Wal MArt, Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City.

If the Studio is "testing the waters" with this release, they will have very weak sales for it, and probably won't be interested in releasing a 1st season. If it's not on store shelves, then they really aren't giving this series a chance.

It doesn't surprise me that it's not being stocked. Alice is not one of the hip, cool shows. Stores are far too busy stocking the latest action adventure & sci-fi claptrap.

I have a feeling about Alice,

I like Alice alot. As I also like "One Day At A Time."

As much as I like these shows I don't expect to see them released on DVD in season sets in their entirety. I really wouldn't see them going past one or two seasons for some reason. Kinda like "Kate & Allie."

I wonder who is the market for these shows primarily. I like them and would buy them but are there enough fans and people like me committed to buying season sets of these shows?

I for one was pleased with the Alice Television Favorites, it was enough Alice for me and I would buy a second installment.

Couldn't find it at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, or Circuit City.

Given the choice, most studios would release a bad sci-fi show over a competent sitcom or drama.

Of course, if reality shows on DVD weren't hogging store shelves (like compilations of American Idol rejects), that would help too. I don't watch these on TV, why would I buy them on DVD? Even my mom and my sisters, who do like reality TV, don't buy the DVDs of them. They do, however, buy scripted TV on DVD.

I found my copy at Borders, where I RARELY buy dvds because they never discount from the MSRP on DVDs. I was really suprised that Best Buy didn't carry Alice, not so much about Wal-Mart and Target. Best Buy carried ALL of the previous Warner TV Favorites releases. Why not this one?!! I mean, surely if Cheyenne (black & white western from the 50s that's never rerun) can sell well, surely Alice would. Some things just confound me.

you never know. The Facts Of Life seemed to have sold quite well, I think FOL and One Day At A Time seems to share a lot of similar fans. I know I'd get One Day if it comes to DVD, and I am a big Facts fan

I ended up getting my copy of Alice through deepdiscoutdvd for $5.99. I certainly hope to see a seasonal DVD release. I noticed Flying Nun and That Girl already have upcoming 2nd season releases which gives me hope for Alice. I would also think fans of Golden Girls would also be fans of Alice.

The unfortunate reality for this and lots of other shows is that they have a very low profile especially among young adults. Alice has not been on in regular reruns for years since it ran on E!.

I would love to see Alice and One Day at a Time in season sets. The Facts of Life was a very youth driven show (not saying One Day wasn't), but Facts has a huge fan base and you know, anything is possible, I'm not knocking the possibility just in my limited scope I just have a feeling that we would see One Day at A Time or Alice with about 1-3 seasons released and abandoned, but what do I know. They could be released in season sets and sell like hot cakes.

Neither has the Flying Nun, That Girl or even That's My Mama. I would also think that the people who grew up with these shows are the ones most likely purchasing TV show box sets on DVD.

Alice reruns ran in syndication for a long time in the early-mid 80's. Mostly in the morning so it's quite possible young audiences (and i'm fairly young myself) have watched the show during those years. And, if i remember correctly, I believe One day at a Time came on right after Alice during the syndicated re-runs.

Are young adults the only ones who buy DVDs? No.

The use of demographics in DVD sales, or anything for that matter, has been nothing short of a disaster.
