What shows do you think should make movies? Either direct to DVD or thatrical?

I think That 70's Show would make a great movie, like where Eric & Donna get married... call it That 70's Wedding.

An Ally McBeal movie would be good, too...

1) Space: Above & Beyond - This was an ambitious scifi show when it first aired. It would make a terrific film.

2) FreakyLinks - Another shortlived show. I think it works better as a TV program, but I'd still see it if it was ever made into a movie.

3) SeaQuest DSV - The series had a lot of promise but it just didn't work for me. I still like the idea of the show so maybe it would be better if they made it into a movie -- with a much better cast (Roy Scheider was the only decent castmember on the TV show). Also get rid of that Dolphin and no kids!!!

It might be a good idea, to make that "Fall Guy" movie if it'll help its DVD release along...

I've always thought Gunsmoke deserved a big-screen treatment with Harrison Ford as Mashal Dillon and Susan Sarandon as Miss Kitty. Imagine James Garner as Doc Adams, Matt Damon as Chester, and Billy Bob Thornton as Festus!

I'm going out on a limb here and saying that if they never base another theatrical release on an old TV show, I won't shed a tear.

Of course, if they absolutely must, then I think Special Unit 2 has the potential to inspire a cool flick.

How many arte really good? Even the ones with the original cast and creative team tend to lack the magic of the show.

Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan is the only great movie from a show I can think of.

I thought Serenity was a fairly decent movie. It was based on the Firefly TV series. Also, the Maverick movie that starred Mel Gibson and James Garner was a lot of fun. (It needed the original theme music from the TV show, though.)

I would *love* to see a movie based on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and/or Farscape.

Gee, with a lot of the TV-to-movie adaptations, sometimes the original theme music and character names is all the movie has in common with the series....

Honestly, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought, "Hmm, which TV shows do I really hate so much that I'd want to see them totally bastardized and thrown up (and I do mean thrown up) on the big screen?" Answer: none, because even if they aren't *my* favorite series, they're probably *someone's*, and why should I wish that grief on anyone?

There have been so few adaptations that were any good; in most cases, it seems that the producers really didn't have a clue what made the original work. "Wild Wild West" and "The Avengers" spring immediately to mind, despite my best efforts to forget the movie versions ever existed.

A third vote for more "Serenity," one of the few adaptations that really worked for me, due in no small part to the original creative team as well as all the original cast being involved.
