Richard Diamond, Private Eye

This looks like it's probably a release of a couple of public domain episodes, but this is a fairly tough show to see and it stars the great David Janssen, so I thought that I'd post it:

Anybody know who has the rights to this series?

Richard Diamond was a Four-Star show, so Fox likely inherited it.

It'd be nice if Passport Video could have gotten the name of that David Janssen series correct, however. It's not called "Richard Diamond, Private Eye" .... it's "Richard Diamond, Private Detective".

Actually, at least when it came to syndication, the package was split between Four Star (now owned by Fox) and Viacom. Some of the episodes, not sure which, retained the Richard Diamond title while the others ran as Calling Mr. D. I believe the first 51 (or 52) of the run were handled by Viacom with the last group of 26 controlled by Four Star.

Just curious if you know the episodes being sold as a quick Library of Congress search seems to show all episodes to be under copyright.

There's no listing of the episode titles in the Amazon description but I'd guess that one of the episodes will likely be "Picture of Fear," an early season 1 episode that has appeared on a few other collections of public domain television episodes.

*** Update ***

Based on another release from the Platinum Disc Corporation (now Echo Bridge Entertainment), in addition to "Picture of Fear," the other episode is likely to be "Merry-Go-Round." See the Platinum release at:
