Like Philip and Tony, I guess I'm in the minority, but I prefer the first two series. Yeah, they were low-budget, but I liked the whole tone and the idea that perhaps, just perhaps, they were indeed the only beings left alive in the universe. The other series weren't bad (indeed, they were quite funny), but I think the show lost a little something the more the RD universe expanded.

Indeed. Norman's bits were among the best of those first two series. Strangely, I didn't enjoy his series 8 reappearances, though. He seemed a bit too "happy to be there."

Well, she might've been cute, but judging from her appearances in series 1-2, Clare really wasn't strong enough an actress, which was the main reason the producer(s) gave for deciding to recast in the first place. Chloe Annett (her replacement from series 7-8) is a
much stronger actress, from what I reckon. And she's also quite a looker, to boot!
