I wasn't sure whether to put this thread in TV Shows or TV/HDTV Programming, but it seems to fit better here since it deals with DVDs. I'm just curious which shows you are watching right now on TV that you will buy on DVD if the DVDs become available. This can include ongoing shows, but it might be more interesting to discuss shows that are new this season, to get a feel for how successful a DVD release might be.

Here's what I'm watching:

Prison Break (premiere season) - It's a quality show, but I doubt if I'll want to watch these episodes again
Invasion (premiere season) - Once is enough; no DVDs
Supernatural (premiere season) - Definite DVD purchase
Smallville (5th season) - It'll for sure join the other four in my collection
Night Stalker (premiere season) - One viewing will probably be enough
Ghost Whisperer (premiere season) - I'll probably buy this

I possibly differ from a lot of you in that I have yet to purchase a DVD set of a season I just finished watching. Until this season, I was not a big TV follower. The only recent show I watched was Enterprise, and I haven't been moved to pick up the sets yet. I've been following Smallville on DVD since the day season one came out, but this is the first time WB timed it in such a way that I have been able to follow it as it airs. So, it's going to be a new experience. Do any of you initially pass on a show you like because you just watched it, and the episodes are too fresh in your mind? Or, do you watch the season twice in a row--once in broadcast, once on DVD--basically back-to-back?

I'll buy The Simpsons (Season Seventeen- which is years away and I'll be buying due only to my completist sickness ), Curb Your Enthusiasm (Season Five), Arrested Development (Season Three), Lost (Season Two), South Park (Season Nine), Alias (Season Five), and CSI (Season Six).

And they're not currently airing but I'll pick this year's 24 (Season Five), The Shield (Season Five), The Sopranos (Season Six), and Deadwood (Season Three).

I've only seen it one episide but I want to check out more of The Night Stalker. If I like that series, I'd pick it up.

EDIT: Went back and included season numbers.

Just Lost and Veroinca Mars for me. If we include shows that premiere in the Spring, I'll add Deadwood, 24, and Battlestar Galactica.

My Name Is Earl (s1), the Stargates (s9 + s2), Corner Gas (s3), and Lost (s2) thus far.

still haven't picked up the first Veronica Mars, although i really want to, as such, VM (s2) isn't on the list above either.

Simpsons season 17! Available in about 5 or 6 years, maybe more. Maybe never.

Lost! Season 2
Desperate Housewives!!! 2
the OC season 3
REUNION season 1: get your butts out there and watch this!
SURFACE season 1!!! ditto the above.

It's funny how nobody talks about those last two shows, because they are GREAT! let me tell ya, baby.

I will not be buying the following:

Invasion season 1: It's boring enough the first time. Actually, this show sucks. I'm not watching it anymore. (although it's a good cure for insomnia).
Threshold: once is enough, although it's a damn good show
Survivor: reality shows? once is enough.
Amazing Race: ditto the above

That's about all I watch.

Oh, and let me add that "Surface" is one of those "made-for-dvd" type shows. I highly recommend this show, especially to families with younger viewers, sci-fi fans and adventure fans. And it's on TONIGHT AT 8:00 wooohoooo!!
