I recently had the opportunity to screen the upcoming
DVD release of Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story,
the very first full-length unrated DVD feature from
creator Seth MacFarlane.

Don't be concerned that this is a direct-to-video
release. This is an opportunity for MacFarlane to give
his fanbase an "edgier" version of Family Guy
outside of network television.

What's the story about?

What begins as an offbeat premiere party for the new
Family Guy film turns into the actual feature
itself. The story centers around Stewie who doesn't
quite feel a connection to his family, that is, until
he sees what looks to be his father being interviewed
on television. This discovery sets in motion a
cross-country adventure from East Coast to West.

Fans are going to be extremely proud of this release
that certainly lives up to the expected level of humor
and entertainment that have been present in the first
four seasons of Family Guy. This feature which
is actually a "film within a film" offers some of the
most humerous moments seen in the franchise to date.

All of the standard Family Guy elements are
here including those outrageous flashbacks that
include movie, television and commercial references.
One of my favorite moments includes a brilliantly
executed Ferris Beuller parody featuring
Stewie racing the clock to make it back to the
playground.

There's even a SEXY PARTY and a INTERMISSION
sequence that must be heard to be believed!

Fans will also be surprised to hear their favorite
characters utter the "F" word now and then -- though
I am thankful that it was used sparingly to avoid
ruining the effect.

As a huge fan of Family Guy, I was very
pleased with the effort that was put into this
direct-to-video production. This DVD represents
the very best of what can be done with this series.

I had a lot of fun with this DVD. Too many laughs
to count throughout its 88 minutes.

Please don't hesitate to purchase this DVD.

The cover looks off.

Will there be anything on this that won't eventually be released on the box sets?

Shawn,

As far as I know this is an exclusive
direct-to-video DVD of material not
previously available anywhere else.

I am guessing that no, it will not be
part of any future season boxed sets as
it never was intended for season broadcast.

Actually, the movie has supposedly been chopped up into three episodes which will be shown on broadcast TV, and should be on a future release of the Family Guy TV DVD's. But the episodes will differ from the film version, such as adding, removing, and changing scenes for the broadcast versions.

I just pre-ordered it for $15.98 at Amazon which is a much more realistic price. I guess the $29.98 was the MSRP

I just noticed that this DVD is #2 at Amazon right now. Although I am a very big FG fan, I must say I am suprised that this DVD is this popular.

I hope this means we might get even more of these in the future.

Oh, great title, Ron. And here I thought I'd see Mr. Harris' take on Stewie Griffin! That would be something.

Consider me one who will own this DVD.
