Anyone know of a Tom and Jerry volume 2?
Volume one spotlight collection is one of my BEST DVD purchases...I just wonder if there is a volume 2 on the horizon...

I would assume we'll get one a year... just like Looney Tunes.

Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, I have not yet been able to pick up this jewel.
I hope for a 2nd set as well, but there might be problems, considering that Hanna Barbera did not have the output of the classic Warner Brothers shorts. In fact, I just went to http://<a href="http://www.tomandjer...nline.com/</a> to see just how many 'toons were produced. The results are kind of surprising, and broken down into the following eras:
Hanna Barbera - 114 Cartoons
Gene Dietch - 13 Cartoons
Chuck Jones - 34 Cartoons
Hanna Barbera 1970s era - 48 Cartoons
Filmation Associates 1980 - 2 Cartoons
What would be nice would be to see ALL of the 'toons, from "Puss Gets The Boot" on to the very last one produced, UNCUT. Now, I know that there are legitimate concerns of racism and stereotypes, but it's a shame that an artform which has some aspects to it that are now "incorrect" should be shunted under the carpet.
Speaking of ignorance, when I was watching the uncut cartoons when I was a kid [and this was back in the early 1970s, when the whole idea of equality was just starting] I thought the black lady was actually quite ahead of her time, since she seemed to be the owner of a house in her own right, without the need of a husband. Since there was never anyone around to give her orders, this was the presumption, rather than that she was a servant. As for her obsessive cleaning, I thought she was just like my Aunt Gloria, who makes Felix Unger of "The Odd Couple" look like a slacker.

I think WB should get that, presumably coming, disc replacement, for the censored shorts on the current set going first.

The Gene Dietch cartoons was distributed by MGM in the US, so Warner should have the rights for those as well (and the Chuck Jones years, of course). They also have the rights for the later Hanna-Barbera cartoons. So there should not be any right issues.
