I have recieved some interesting and potentially pant wetting news over the last 2 months and today I have decided to share.

A very reliable UK Universal source has said most of the music has been cleared for the 1st season of Miami Vice. The plan is to release full seasons on DVD starting with Miami Vice: Season 1 hopefully around the xmas period of 2004. The new computer game is scheduled for release around september/october this year so the tie in is very attractive to Universal for converting younger fans to the show. September also happens to be the shows 20th aniversary. Universal think the show has the potential to be one of the best classic TV show sellers. I have also heard similar news from US and German sources so I'm inclined to think that Miami Vice really is coming out in full seasons starting this Xmas.No one has mentioned music changes which is a good thing. It seems Universal know how important the music was to the fabric of the show. More news when I get it.

I sure hope this is true. It would really give hope for other music heavy shows to make it to DVD eventually as well. I have been holding faith that due to TV on DVD becoming so huge that issues about licensing would ease up and publishers would warm up some more to making economically feasable deals. The bad thing though is that if M.V. does make it to DVD it will likely carry an high price tag.

I would love to see Miami Vice come to DVD. Let's hope it does start coming out this fall.

Bring it on! If this is true, I'll definitely be picking up season 1 (and 2-5 as well).

I don't care what the price is...

If this is true, Crockett & Tubbs are back in New York...AND I'VE GOT THEM!

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

What 2-parter MV season opener is "New York" a reference to? The answer gets you 5 points.

"The Prodigal Son"

I'm pretty excited by what I've heard but until I get something more concrete I'll not be losing any sleep. Its looking good though. I think Universal are starting to taste the profit already...

I would buy this. I still have a couple of tapes left over from the original NBC run, and I'm kind of sorry I taped over the rest. There were some brilliant episodes in this series - my all-time favorite has got to be "Where the Buses Don't Run."

Gak, 20 years? Oy. Okay, I'm feeling officially old today. :>

I'd buy seasons 1 to 5 but I thought the later half of season 2 and most of season 3 were the best.
