Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought

I've ordered to additional copies of October Road: The Complete First Season for the "Pay October Road Forward Campaign". If you're a fan of the series and/or a fan of the film "Beautiful Girls", check the links in my signature below.

Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

R.I.P. October Road 2007-2008

Please help bring Supernatural star Jensen Ackles' unaired (and seven-episode produced) Fox series, "Still Life", to DVD. Vote at TVShowsOnDVD.com and/or snail mail a letter to Fox Home Entertainment below.

Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought

The last TV DVD I bought was season 3 of "Stargate Atlantis". And am anxiously awaiting season 4.

I haven't watched any of Helter Skelter yet, but I will soon. I'm really looking forward to the 184-minute version. Once I do, I'll let you know how I liked it.
I've heard that about Guyana Tragedy. I was sort of hoping it wasn't as bad as all that. Well, I will be happy just to be able to see it again. I'm thinking there will be a new version of that material someday on the big screen. That's when they will perhaps restore that as it should be.

I'm glad people are picking up the Mill Creek stuff. I watch a few more Robin Hood episodes over the weekend and those sure are good, just like the Rin Tin Tin! Hopefully there will be more coming for each. There are 4 more seasons to Robin Hood and I'd sure like them.

I'm wondering if I got the correct one (the one I first saw mentioned on this Board a few months ago). I believe I have the correct one, as the release date is quite current.

I think there may be some question regarding the copyright status of "Guyana Tragedy" as there have been two releases of this made-for-TV film released within the last year by two different companies. VCI Entertainment released this last year and Alpha Video released it earlier this year. I have the VCI release; it's certainly not cleaned up in any way, but it is watchable.

VCI: GUYANA TRAGEDY: THE JIM JONES STORY

Alpha: The Story of Jim Jones - Guyana Tragedy - Drama Classic Movies on DVD (1980) Starring Powers Boothe, James Earl Jones, Ned Beatty, Rosalind Cash, Brad Dourif, Randy Quaid, LeVar Burton & Diane Ladd; Directed by William A. Graham; Alpha Video : OLDIES

I own the VCI edition (#8505). And yes, it's watchable, for certain.

BTW, thanks for the links. That's a great price offered by Oldies.com.

I knew VCI had that other film done about Jones...

But I heard it wasn't worth watching. You can get it in a double feature version as well with another reportedly bad film.

I love this cover of the Powers Booth version...

That's the one I want on my shelf just for the cover. Very sinister. Perfect, if you ask me.

I was in a Targhee today and they had Season 2 of Without a Trace for $19.99 and Volumes 1 & 2 of Speed Racer for $9.99 Each, so I bought Em!

DVD Inventory: TV Show Episodes: 5,926. Movies: 368. Serial Chapters: 350.

Radioman,

Yep, that's a great cover (the bottom one), isn't it? Incidentally, there are some special features with this version, such as a trailer and interviews. I haven't watched all of them, but I thought I'd add that.
