I'm trying to decide on what high priced full series set to get. Twilight Zone or Andy Griffith most likely. I have a list of old Saturday morning stuff I watched in the 70s and 80s, like Krofft's Land of the Lost complete, Dungeon's & Dragons cartoon complete and ARk II, Space Academy, Jason of Star Command, Star Trek animted that I'm deciding on. also, I could get The Kids in the Hall complete (with Brain Candy movie) or get Season 1 of SNL. I have until Feb 17th to decide. At any rate, it's gonna be a fun week off! Throw in all my favorite bad-for-me foods and I'm in friggin heaven in March!!!
I want those X-Files so bad! I'm glad the whole show can be had for about $170 or so. Brisco is another I want. I only saw a few but it looks like a real winner.

Radioman,
Of those mentioned in your list above, I own only Star Trek: TAS. It was around $50 (I purchased it around a year ago). It is well worth every penny--such crisp episodes, some extensive special features, a descriptive booklet, and sturdy casing. It also fits snugly after (to the right of) the TOS boxed sets--I almost wonder if they had that in mind when they created the box for TAS. Anyway, happy shopping!

I bought all of ``The Land of the Lost'' sets as they came out, so I've got all those. I bought ``Space Academy'' vaguely remembering it from when I was a kid, and oooooh, boy, what a cheesy stinker it is! ``The X-Files'' on DVD are great, since I basically didn't watch the show during its run on-air, if you can get past some of the spooky-robot-monster or whatever of the week episodes, it's pretty decent. Frankly, I find that I prefer the alien abduction/UFO stories, just because of Mulder's dogged belief in the face of Scully's withering skepticism.

Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought
While not a recent release, the most recent show that I picked up was Soap. I bought all four seasons from Amazon when they were (maybe still are?) having that buy one get one free sale. I was able to get all four seasons for the price of two. I've made it almost all the way through season one and it has actually held up quite well (I hadn't seen it for years, although I'm a bit too young for its original run).

It's about $38 now. There's just something special about the Filmation stuff. I wasn't sure what was included, but it sounds like they did a first rate job with it. (oh, speaking of cases, the Cylon head that pokes out case for Battlestar Galactica is $20 cheaper than the one that doesn't stick out...but it's the same material in the set...hummmm...)
I'm glad I have weeks to decide what to get. It really is tough. I've thought of going with a big purchase of films, the $200 James Bond movie set (with Never Say Never bought separately) or maybe the set of Pink Panther Movies (with Return of PP bought separately) and the PP cartoon set to go with it. Too bad The Ant & the Aarkvark isn't available, it always had the same feel. Haven't seen PP or A&A since I was little.
I also have the urge to revisit Columbo with Season 1.

I bought the LotL 4 episode DVD when it first came out. I really missed it once those were gone. That complete series set is a definite purchase.
I've been reading reviews about the ArkII, etc shows. I know they can't possibly stand up to my memories of them. I should leave them alone, but I think instead of spending about $60 getting them all at once, I'll go with Ark II and get something else, like the Columbo. Oh, I'm leaning toward getting another Krofft show, the Bug-a-Loos. I have a few episodes and it's trippy. I don't smoke weed but I kind of wish some was included with purchase on Kroffy shows.
I prefer the really weird episodes of X-Files instead of the conspiracy ones.

My mom wouldn't let me watch Soap originally. But I've had the same experience as you. S2 starts a little slow (I guess because it's having to continue with last season's cliffhangers) but it quickly improves. I like revisiting stuff like this.

Radioman,
Yes, it's a good package (TAS). I was thrilled when the news of its release first surfaced. Speaking of packaging, have you seen the two-season set for Sliders recently? I saw the set the other day, and although I thought of getting it, I couldn't bring myself to do it as the packaging turned me off. It looked far too fragile.

I picked up (separately) Dr. No, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and Casino Royale recently. I haven't listened to the commentary by Connery for any of these yet, but one day I will.

I own the first two seasons of this. It was quite a treat watching the second pilot episode (Ransom For a Dead Man). Although I have seen Prescription: Murder several times, I had not seen the second pilot until I got Season One of Columbo. Reviews of it (the episode, not the boxed set) are generally not as positive as they are for Prescription: Murder. IMO, that one was (is) first-rate.
