Any ER: Season One reviews yet?
Has anyone heard anything about the ER Season One boxset? It's coming out in less than two weeks and I've yet to find any reviews of it anywhere.
Also, is there any confirmation of how many discs this set is? The press release and all the online shops claim it will be a four-disc set, but with 19 hours of episodes plus quite a lot of extras, I really don't see how this can be any less than six discs...
(I know there was an older thread back when this was announced, but I felt that a new thread was suitable.)

Hi Iain,
I don't think anyone has received copies of the set yet (I know I haven't). I have seen 2 of the documentaries and they are very good, and very thorough. They interview a TON of people. I was amazed by the names I saw...pretty everyone except Eriq La Salle.
The set is 4, DVD-18 discs, so no need to worry about space.

Some places are listing Fullscreen, some Widescreen. The Japanese DVDs for this season were Fullscreen, and that's how they aired, so I'm hoping they're not simply matting to give us Widescreen for the sake of Widescreen.

I wonder if the new special features have been filmed in Widerscreen, hence the listings?

Iain:
ER is one of the sets I have ordered for the August reviews for the forum. I got word last week from Warner Bros. that a few titles were late coming in (don't know which ones), so I don't know which title is holding things up. Sorry.
BTW, my chart shows a street date of August 26th, so a review couldn't be posted any earlier than August 12th according to WB rules. Hopefully, it'll be here soon.
Herb.

No, the docus are full frame, and the show is widescreen. I haven't seen an episode of the series in widescreen, so I can't comment on it being matted or not.

Can't believe there are still no reviews of this just one week before release.

Luke... I received an email from WB Canada today saying the ER set still hasn't arrived. The Iron Giant SE and The Prince And The Pauper are also not in yet. They confirmed they will be sent as soon as they arrive. Dunno if this is also the case in the US...??

E.R. was beautifully photographed for wide-screen even when broadcast in 4:3.
Titles are full screen; production photography is 1.78:1.
Although not yet confirmed, it does appear that the 4:3 image was cropped at the sides for broadcast, as the wide-screen proportions look totally perfect and to proper scale.
The series is being viewed as photographed for the first time.
This is a superb boxed set and is highly recommended.
