Although this was news to me as well, it appears to have been known for a while. I just noticed a post from 2 weeks ago on an Alias site with this link:

I remember this being mentioned a while back but only as a very unbelievable rumor. Although Amazon has it up for pre-order they are notorious for jumping the gun.

It was announced via an article in USA Today, but it is nice to ahve an official confirmation. I just hope that, with the shortened release window, JJ and Co. don't skimp on the S2 supplements.

I'm not going to buy it, but I think it's great that they are pumping out quality season sets in such a speedy time frame.

POWERFUL THE DARKSIDE IS... I caved and bought the Star Wars re-release after saying the whole time that I wouldn't.

Will it be 16:9 widescreen like the HD broadcasts are?

The specs look pretty nice considering there's only a 3 month gap between releases. And yes, the episodes will be presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen with 5.1 audio.

I just posted the official press release for Alias S2 over at the site I help out at. It's frowned upon for me to post the link myself, but y'all know where it is.

Sweet! Buena Vista showing how a TV show should be released on DVD (quickly, not that expensive, nice extras). I think they really are trying to draw more people into the show and if that's the case, I think they're moving in the right direction.

Well, the only problem is that then people will be whining about how long it takes for Season 3 and beyond

"What do you mean September? And Season 4 a year after that? WTF?"
