Monk - season 1 : what is its fate?
With news of the release dates for Law & Order: SVU and Criminal Intent - season 1 sets, it got me thinking about what is going to happen to Monk. Since all 3 of these series got the same introduction to the DVD world (these strange "pilot" only releases) and all on the same day, does the fact that a release date for season sets of SVU & CI has been set indicate that Universal has decided against releasing Monk - season 1?
Also, if it is indeed released, will the season 1 set include the pilot? If the pattern set by SVU & CI is followed, the pilot for Monk would be included. But then, the pilots for SVU & CI are only 45 min.s long whereas the pilot for Monk is movie-length. And there is precedent for excluding a movie-length pilot from a season 1 set; just look at Due South.
Has anyone heard anything about what Universal is planning for this series?
