Re: Is "Applause" In The Public Domain?
Kino also license other titles from Universal, such as the William Wyler films THE LOVE TRAP, COUNSELLOR AT LAW and THE GOOD FAIRY (the latter is one of my favourite 1930s comedies).
I believe everything from Kino is either officially licensed or PD. I think they are a brilliant company, especially for silents. This year they seem to be releasing a batch of silent films almost every month, including some of Victor Sjostrom's rare Swedish silents in July. I also recommend the First Ladies series (early films by women directors) released last month.
