TCFHE Press Release: Meet The Spartans (DVD/Blu-ray)

THE BIGGER THE MOVIE, THE HARDER THEY SPOOF!

Meet The Spartans

Fox Home Entertainment Pushes The Unrated Envelope
300-Times More Than Before In The Wildest Parody Ever,
Debuting June 3rd On Unrated DVD And Blu-Ray Disc

Century City, CA – History has never been so hysterical! After skewering some of Hollywood’s scariest movies, romantic comedies, top-grossing blockbusters and pop-culture icons, the innovative writing and directing team behind the comedy hits Date Movie and Epic Movie take on the ancient Greeks when Meet The Spartans fights its way onto Unrated DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) June 3rd from Fox Home Entertainment. Delivering 300-times the gut-busting laughs and crass humor, Meet The Spartans follows the journey of Leonidas, the King of Sparta. When his kingdom is challenged by the powerful Xerxes, Leonidas must recruit some of his strongest soldiers; which unfortunately leaves him with 13 (not 300) of the not-so-finest. Armed with nothing but leather underwear and a flowing red cape, Leonidas leads his ragtag army to defend their homeland, delivering outrageous send-ups of motion picture heavyweights including Ghost Rider, Transformers, Spider-Man 3 and Casino Royale, as well as leaving no stone unturned by tackling such pop culture television staples as “American Idol,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Ugly Betty” and “Deal or No Deal.” With laugh-out-loud performances from an all-star cast, Meet The Spartans features voluptuous spoof movie veteran Carmen Electra (Scary Movie 4), Kevin Sorbo (“Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”), Diedrich Bader (“The Drew Carey Show”), Ken Davitian (Borat), Sean Maguire (“The Class”) and Method Man (“The Wire”). Meet The Spartans will be available in the Unrated “Pit of Death” Edition featuring outrageous footage not seen in theaters, plus a hilarious gag reel, trivia game, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more, priced to own at $29.98 U.S. / $43.48 Canada. Also available day-and-date, Meet The Spartans will be released in an Unrated Blu-ray Disc edition for the suggested retail price of $39.98 U.S. / $49.98 Canada.

Synopsis:
In Meet the Spartans, the heroic Leonidas, armed with nothing but leather underwear and a cape, leads a ragtag group of 13—count ’em, 13!—warriors to defend their homeland against the invading Persians, whose ranks include Ghost Rider, Rocky Balboa, the Transformers, and a hunchbacked Paris Hilton. You won’t find a funnier Greek war film even if you live to see 300!
