Any word on a re-issue of LSOHorrors with the alternate ending intact?

I am one of the lucky few with the recalled 1998 Little Shop of Horrors that contains the alternate ending. I treasure this disk because this sequence is so amazing, and am kinda hoping that eventually it gets treated right and gets re-released, regardless of what this will do to my "collectable."

Wikipedia references some hints from February of last year that Warner was considering a re-release, I cannot find any confirmation of that even on the site they list as reference.

So, anyone know any details, hints or rumors?

Hopefully someone will ask again when WHV can participate in another annual Theatrical division chat. Any word on that front?

I also have a copy of it well. In fact, it was my first DVD purchase ever (found at a Suncoast in Carlsbad, CA) on July 25, 2000. On the record, I didn't even buy my first DVD player until four months later.

Although it does have a few scratches (I opened it so I could look at the inside, so it is partly my fault), I treasure that disc with my life, and if anyone ever borrows it, they have to swear to take good care of it or else I'll scream.

In regards to that news, that came out of the HTF chat that was held last year. They mentioned that it was under consideration and that plans were being worked on, but nothing finalized. I would love to have a more complete version of the original finale like David Geffen has mentioned time and time again that he has, but for now the B&W workprint does just fine for me.

It seems like they had planned on rereleasing the alternate version in theaters a long time ago, but it never happened. I think the original negative of this footage does exist and they need to release that.

WOW. That ending is spectacular, and about ten billion times better than the horrible piece of garbage that passes for an ending on the theatrical release. This film really needs to be re-released with that ending. I might finally actually like the film.

I'd like to see the entire middle section of "The Meek Shall Inherit" re-instated to the film, also. A double disc with two versions would be fantastic.

Re: Any word on a re-issue of LSOHorrors with the alternate ending intact?

I had heard that David Geffen was the one who pulled the DVD, because he said he had the original negative to the scene and was shocked by the poor quality of the DVD footage. He said he was planning on re-releasing it with the original ending and has blown off everything about it since then.

The story I had heard was that he was possessive about the original ending and didn't want it released without his OK, so he's being difficult. Whether that will ever translate to a full-blown proper release, who knows. It's been ten years, get over it David.
