The Ultimate Flint Collection

Can anyone please tell me if it's worth upgrading from the old Fox DVDs based on image quality alone?

Also, can you please tell me how this one's packaged?

Is it a fold-out digipak or a thin box-set similar to the Michael Shayne Mysteries and the 3 Stooges Collection from Sony with slimline keep cases inside? And if the latter, could anyone please post a link to pictures of the individual keep case art for each film?

Last but not least, I notice that DVDEmpire has this listed as "Discontinued By Studio." Is this accurate and if so, why is it that these titles can never seem to remain in print?

Thanks!

I can tell you how it's packaged--it's two thin packs, one containing one disk and the other two. Plus a three-panel printed insert.

Re: The Ultimate Flint Collection

I have both the individual releases and the ultimate set. As far as video quality goes, I really don't see any difference between the old releases versus the ultimate set. The only thing new is the TV episode of Flint, which in my opinion wasn't very good. And John is correct on the packaging. I purchased mine at Borders around last Christmas (2006), so I have no idea if it's out of print.

Re: The Ultimate Flint Collection

Thanks for the info... if anyone wants to open up the set and snap a photo for me, it'd be appreciated!

Since pq doesn't seem to be that much of a difference, I guess this would be the final determinate of whether or not I bother with it...

Sorry Marco, I guess I still live in the stone age since I don't own a digital camera. Maybe one of the others has a camera to snap the photo for you.

Re: The Ultimate Flint Collection

Thanks so much John!!

A much nicer package and with the additional extras and TV episode selling for less than $20 MSRP, I think I'll sell off the singles and upgrade!

Now when is Fox going to re-release Modesty Blaise??

Perhaps as part of their Cinema Classics Collection?

Just don't be upgrading for the TV movie alone -it was horrendous playing more like some sort of Columbo imitator than anything akin to the Coburn Flint films. Nice to see it come out, but after seeing it I wished it might've stayed hidden .
