WHV Press Release: Twister 2-Disc SE (DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray)

“A gale-force movie with the energy to blow audiences right out of the theater.”
The New York Times, Janet Maslin

“Rated PG-13: For intense depiction of very bad weather.''
Motion Picture Association of America

The Action Blockbuster that Stars Nature at its Worst…

TWISTER TWO-DISC SPECIAL EDITION

Burbank, CA, January 16, 2008 – Twister – one of the screen’s most gripping man vs. nature thrillers -- debuts May 6, 2008 as a Two-Disc Special Edition DVD from Warner Home Video (WHV). This action adventure blockbuster grossed more than $494 million worldwide during its theatrical release and was the first movie ever to be released on DVD. Now the terror of Twister can be experienced as never before with a digitally remastered picture and awesome bonus features. The film will be released simultaneously on Blu-ray Disc while making its HD DVD debut on May 27, for an even more intense thrill. Twister Two-Disc Special Edition will be available for $20.97 SRP; HD DVD and Blu-ray versions will sell for $28.99 SRP.

Directed by Jan De Bont (Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) and Speed), Twister was nominated for two Academy Awards® (Visual Effects, Sound). The film stars Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton as an estranged couple who are thrill-seeking meteorologists with a passion for chasing tornadoes…those mile-wide, 300 miles-per-hour forces of total devastation. In this adventure swirling with cliffhanging excitement and awesome special effects, the pair, along with their crew of fearless scientists (who include Philip Seymour Hoffman, Cary Elwes) are pursuing the most destructive weather front to sweep through mid-America’s Tornado Alley in 50 years. By launching electronic sensors into the funnel, the storm chasers hope to obtain data to create an improved warning system. But to do so, they must intercept the twister’s deadly path.

One of the few movies I have wanted (if only for the visuals and sound), but never bought. I will be picking this up.

I find it ironic that Warner's press release says it's the first movie ever released on DVD and it may be the last HD DVD that they release (on May 27th)!

I'm not a fan of hers, but Warner is not including (once again) the Shania Twain music video for Twister, "No One Needs to Know"? I was hoping with a re-release we might finally see this included. It was very well done. And whenever I think of this film, this song and video come back to mind. Please Warner, if it's not too late, include this one too. Thanks.

I haven't seen this movie in ages. This was the movie that introduced me to Phillip Seymour Hoffman, now my single favorite actor.

This movie came out during my first year as a teacher and I brought my classes to see it as a field trip. I haven't watched it in at least 10 years.

Hope they keep the DTS from the previous release. Its remarkable Warner has hardly ever used it since Twister was like their first dvd with a DTS track.

That's gotta be the most ridiculous ratings reason I've seen since The Virgin Suicides "Rated R: For strong thematic elements involving teens"

I hope they do too, but it doesn't seem to be listed on the back cover.

DVD Empire - Item - Twister: 2 Disc Special Edition / DVD-Video

Has anyone seen the History Channel documentary they're including on these releases? Is it any good?

Yeah, I'm not crazy about the front cover either. My question is why they didn’t keep the previous releases' art.
