Who owns distr. rights to Bel-Air Productions film library?

I know that MGM released Voodoo Island as a double-feature disc in their Midnite Movies series... did they just license this one title or do they have rights over the entire 50's movie library?

There's a lot of fun b-movies like Big House, U.S.A., Hell Bound and The Black Sleep and many colorful matinee westerns that would be nice to have on DVD.

I'd especially like to see the above mentioned titles though.. Not masterpieces by any stretch (though the Black Sleep is a very atmospheric film and quite reminiscent of a certain British production co. known for it's gothic horror pictures) and Big House, U.S.A. is an entertaining low budget thriller with great scenery and beautiful photographic backdrops. I can definitely think of worse ways to spend 90 minutes.

Does anyone know anything about the rights holdings of Bel-Air Prod.?

I believe all of Bel-Air Productions product are controlled by MGM, as part of their United Artists library.

Turner Classic Movies has run some nice-looking prints this year of The Girl in Black Stockings, Bop Girl Goes Calypso, The Black Sleep, and Big House, USA. I think the MGM lion and/or Sony logo came up after one film.

Re: Who owns distr. rights to Bel-Air Productions film library?

Thanks guys!

Maybe 'The Black Sleep' could be considered for a future Midnite Movies double-feature...

I'm not sure how they'd ever market a film like 'Big House, USA' but perhaps some sort of b-movie box set with some of their cheapo noirs and prison flicks, etc. I doubt that'll happen though, unfortunately...
