Army Of Darkness. Universal 16:9 SD release?

Just wondering.

Does anyone know if Universal will release the new 16:9 SD transfer from the HD Combo release on its own?

With all the Boomstick, Chewing Gum, Kitchen Sink releases of this film, it'd be nice to have the best transfer of the Universal theatrical cut on a single SD DVD.

I would rather have a 16:9 of the all-film sourced director's cut that MGM released in Region 3; Anchor Bay's edition has all the cut footage sourced from a VHS tape.

I'd like that transfer too, but not the director's cut version which I didn't like.

The Anchor Bay single-disc "THX" version is the shorter theatrical cut, anamorphically enhanced and all that.

True.

But I've never been impressed by it.

It's too soft and the color balance is off. The image is too far on the pink side.

The Universal version is far better.

Personally I've never found the Anchor Bay THX disc to be too soft or too pink, in fact I think it is a fine disc all around for how old it is (it could be improved with a new transfer to be sure).

I haven't actually seen the R3, but going by the screenshots here its a definite improvement.

The R3 is fantastic. The sound quality alone makes it a must-buy.

Never mind that it's also heavily cropped on all four sides!
