Forbidden Planet 7' Robby

I was looking at the offer in the Forbidden Planet DVD set for the seven foot model Robby The Robot. Has anybody seen the price for it? How many do you think will sell?

Re: Forbidden Planet 7' Robby

I don't know, but I've always thought the best Robby product would be a Robby the Robot Lava Lamp, in which his clear dome head would be extended a bit and would have the psychedelic pink glowing lava inside.

Problem with production would be that the glass "top" of a real lava lamp has a bottle cap (usually hidden underneath a more decorative cap). So I'm not sure how to minimize that.

Re: Forbidden Planet 7' Robby

I'd buy this in a New York Minute.

But, then reality sets in.

Maybe if I concentrate really hard, my tiny new model of Robby will grow into a lifesize real Robby!

Where is the 'real' Robby? Is it on display somewhere?

The original Robby is owned by a private collector. He occasionally makes public appearances.

I got a good close up look at the Fred Barton Robby reproduction at the World Science Fiction Convention this year, and it looked superb. Robby talks, his tubes light up, and mechanisms move. Wonderful stuff.

Re: Forbidden Planet 7' Robby

Where would you put such a thing? A seven-foot tall robot would certainly be difficult to place in the house.....especially if one is married.

I'll certainly say this, it sure is impressive looking.......a hell of a lot more so than the Robbie in the boxset - man, that thing is tiny.....not much larger than something you get out of a crackerjack box.

Recently watched- The Eye, Everybody Loves Raymond: Season 2, Battlestar Galactica: Razor, Dawn Of The Dead(2004): Unrated[UMD], Scream,Blacula,Scream, We Own The Night, Planet Of The Apes: The Ultimate Collection, Animal House[UMD], War

Currently watching- Magnum P.I.: Season 6, Heroes: Season 1, Twin Peaks, Battlestar Galactica: Season 3, Masters Of Horror: Season 1 - Volume II, The Martian Chronicles, Frasier: Season 8

I doubt the wife will be sticking around long when you tell her you just paid $50K for a life size robot. Problem solved!
