Mimic SE?

When I went to Guillermo Del Toro's signing of HELLBOY and THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE at Laser Blazer in West L.A. back in August 2004, he had a box with what was to be a MIMIC SE disc which was supposedly due out last Halloween. It was to feature both the original cut and a director's cut with the original, downbeat ending as well as limited-edition packaging that included a bust of the film's cockroach monsters. It didn't look like a mock-up-- the box he had looked like finished packaging. Whatever happened to this? Am I the only person who's ever heard about this? I would love to have this underrated film in a 16x9 enhanced version at the very least.

Me too. It's one of those DVDs that I've come across many times for a very low price but have resisted getting in hopes of a SE or at least a 16x9 enhanced version. Still waiting.

Another Buene Vista SE that's been suppressed from the public. I bet the Mimic SE is in the same vault that the anamorphic Scream, Crimson Tide, and The Rocketeer are being held.

Del Toro's less than happy experience with the studio might also be a factor....I wonder what that commentary track sounds like coming from a frank man such Guillermo?

I'm very interested. This movie was a big surprise a few years back. I've been waiting for this release forever.

Has anyone seen the HORRIBLE sequel Mimic 2? Haven't seen the third one, but I'm guessing it's not much better.

I would be up for SE. I think MIMIC gets better with each repeat viewing. I didn't think much of the film on the first viewing. Now I like even better.

"Mimic 2" was horrible. I haven't seen "Mimic 3," but have heard it's better than the 2nd.

Bad news from the man himself.

Off a question I posed on the deltorofilms.com message board wondering if this got caught up in the whole Miramax/Dimension/Disney debacle:

>>

The MIMIC dvd box was indeed caugt in the DIMENSION debacle. IŽm not sure if Disney would ever pick it up now. WeŽll see!

Foo!
