BAH!
Ok...all kidding aside (If Mike has survived...hehe)... the answer to the question everyone is asking is "YES"...the new TS2 DVD utterly smokes the old in terms of the new audio mix and DTS presentation. In fact, I'm still stunned by how much better the new mix/DTS sounds even though the original DVD had such great DD EX audio to begin with.
Picture is improved as well...greater stability, clarity, fine-object detail...and just looks more 3-D.
Everything that made the Toy Story 10th Anniversary DVD worth the double dip applies to this as well. I hope to get a review up of at least the AV quality soon even if I have to come back to round out the special feature section later...
cheers!

THAT was.......cruel.
Ya know, I didn't pull the trigger on the TS SE. But this one I am probably going to do...especially with your preliminary findings teases!
Just watched some segments of my TS2 from the Ultimate Toy Box the other night. Cannot believe what you're saying about improved A/V...but I am willing to keep a very open mind!
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of deal on the two together...... [Mike rubs hands together in mad scientist fashion!]
There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

this looks better then the new TS 1.
looking forward to your review, david.
this is just amazing. the pq is truly, nearly perfect.
i thought robots was
the best looking dvd i have seen, and it was.
this one is just as good if not better.
i expect a few to say the lfe might be overcooked.
but just for the begining battle with zurg.
the pq detail is astounding.
the fabric on Bullseye in a few close shots, looks as real as could be.
i just went from looking at 40 year old virgin, which was almost embarrassing to look at, to this.
universal should be ashamed to release a dvd that looks like that when something like this can be produced.
TS 2 is the dvd that dvd producers should be
forced to look at and be told,
"Make it look like that!"

I am so drooling over this, don't forget that if you bought cinderella there is a $3 off coupon good on any Disney dvd, it expires on 12/31, so use it while you can!

Apparently David has been taken captive by his next door neighbor Sid and has been rendered unable to post his observations on this much-anticipated disc.

Got this a few days ago and have not looked at it yet because when I do, I want to be able to crank this baby's volume.

Dave: I'm guessing...and this is only a guess 'cuz the fact that Christmas falls on a Sunday is making access to this weekend's ads a little tough this week...that there will be deals at some of the stores if you buy both titles.
I know I'm definitely HOPING that's the case!
EDIT**
Well, it looks like it WON'T be Best Buy. BB will let you save $6 instantly if you buy TS 2 with one of the following four movies: Cinderella, Sky High, Kronk's New Groove, or Valiant.

There is a "buy 2 save $6" at Target for TS1 and TS2. I am doing that, since I have a $3 off that came with Cinderella.
