You should see the HD version. It looks just too good on my Ruby.

I'm optimistic that Dark Sky will correct this. They were about to release Eaten Alive and found a better print and scrapped all the work that they did so they could release a better product. It may take awhile but I think they'll fix TCM too.

Great thread. I'll definately save my money until this issue is resolved. I absolutely agree that the sound is equally as important as the picture. Especially on a really good horror film like this. They originally did a hell of a great job on sound effects for TCM. It freaks me out for that alone. Heck, I could just sit and listen to the sound and get freaked out by TCM.

I have the same one pictured above with the chainsaw edge across the front. I've always been happy with it. But the new one looks so sweet I"m dying to watch it that way. But..I shall wait longer...

If Dark Sky does the right thing and fixes the audio offering us proper presentation of the film as it was originally intended, I will enthusiastically purchase.

If not, than I'll unfortunately have to pass - and I was REALLY looking forward to finally owning this classic on DVD.

I guess the medium has spoiled me, but I just refuse to buy any product that seems inferior in any way, be it audio or video wise. There's too many other great DVD's to spend money on.

I think the missing sound effect from the second WHACK from Leatherface and the screams when wheelchair-dude are being chopped are pretty important sound effects...

Are these only missing from the 5.1 track ? Because thats all ive watched so far.Anyway, the missing audio effects need to be corrected for those who want it, on the elm street dvd theres even more missing audio than this disc!Im suprised no one is complaining about that in the other thread , chainsaw has hardly nothing missing compared to that !

^ Could you please elaborate Tony, I haven't picked up that DVD yet either... and am glad I didn't based on what I'm now hearing.

What exactly is missing?

Theres a few audio clips missing, like tina ripping freddys face.Another one is a music cue when freddy visits rod in jail. Also another music cue when rod jumps at nancy from the bushes.Theres also a couple more i cant remember, hope that helps. It didnt spoil my enjoyment since the movie sounds and looks better than ever, but i understand why others are.
