The Challenge. I rarely see it mentioned here...the CBS/Fox VHS tape, in its oversize clamshell case, is one of the few VHS cassettes I've hung onto. It was a CBS Theatrical Films production so I'm guessing Paramount has the rights now. It's a solid martial arts actioner with an interesting take on the Westerner, full of bluster, learning the ways of the Far East. Scott Glenn, in a rare lead, is quite good. Naturally, his co-star Toshiro Mifune more than holds up his end of the bargain.
It's also shown in an alterate tv version entitled "Sword of the Ninja" said to have been recut by Frankenheimer.
Since it's Paramount, if we see this title at all, I have a feeling we will not see both cuts, but there's no harm in wishing. Are there any other fans?
