The Department of Labor is giving out copies of this DVD free of charge via this link: http://www.dol.gov/opa/dvd/
I can't find any more information about the documentary. The DOL site describes it like this:
“Up From Zero” is a documentary film that pays tribute to the brave men and women of the New York City building trades who put themselves on the line on September 11, 2001 – and for nine months afterward – to reclaim Ground Zero.
Thousands of these workers had converged on Lower Manhattan in the immediate aftermath of the attacks to help in the rescue, recovery, and clean up efforts at the World Trade Center. Ground Zero was the most dangerous work site in America, and these men and women worked at great personal risk. It is a tribute to their courage and skill that they completed the job ahead of schedule and without serious injuries.
The documentary contains original film footage and personal interviews with the workers.
“This film is the story of their patriotism, strength, and determination. I’m proud that the U.S. Department of Labor played a part in helping to tell it. I know you will be as inspired by their story as I am.” – Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao |
Surely many of us will want to have a copy of this importnat historical document.

Just ordered one. Thanks for the link, this will make a good compliment to my 9-11 DVDs, adding to the historical record.

I ordered one as well.
I also cannot find any more info on this documentary. It's not on the imdb, either. Odd.

it is really too bad the the DVD cant be updated to include the fact that many of the rescue/cleanup workers at the WTC are coming down with some very grave illness directly related to their heroic acts-not to mention the fact that EPA warnings about the toxic nature of the work were toned down, or deleted all together by....-well, read the article...

So, has anyone actually received a copy of this DVD?
I ordered mine two months ago (the DOL site says to allow "up to 6 weeks") and have yet to receive it, nor have I gotten any reply to email inquiries about it. I figure it either hasn't actually been released yet or there was a glitch when I filled out the order form on the DOL site.
Of course, it's free so one can't complain. Just curious as to what's up with it.

I completely forgot about it! I have not received the DVD yet. Perhaps they were overwhelmed.
