Does anyone know what happened to this disc? It's the only Michael Moore film not on DVD. Our fine friends at MIRAMAX had this on their schedule for last fall, I believe.

I wonder if the Miramax/Disney fiasco over Moore's latest film means trouble for "The Big One" getting a DVD release in the States.....will the Weinsteins have to buy this title back and release it themselves too?

I ordered the disc from Benson's World. It came to $17 shipped. The non-anamorphic picture is pretty bad and the voices sound a bit like chipmunks at times (due to PAL speed-up?) but I feel comfortable retiring my laserdisc.

Thanks again for the tip, Jonathan.

Michael, I think the Moore/Miramax situation is a verboten topic around here. I know the official F911 threads don't allow discussion on this particular matter. Just FYI.

Doubtful, as they allowed to film to be released on video and laserdisc and it is currently showing on IFC. It isn't as controversial as 911.

The whole Disney vs Miramax debate is more publicity than anything else. Miramax knew they couldn't release the film last year, yet kept on with it so that they could drum up the publicity, intentionally hurting their relationship with Disney so they can exercise the out on their contract with Disney that has an option next year.

The delay to DVD has more to do with Miramax having a very disorganized video division than anything at Disney. They are probably waiting to do a special edition to tie in with 911's DVD release in September.

Miramax has announced a September 28th release for "The Big One" on DVD (according to The Digital Bits.)

I was on DVD File just now and here are the details for the upcoming release. I will definitely pick this up.

"And although Disney elected not to release Michael Moore's uber-controversial Fahrenheit 9/11, they will give The Big One a spin on DVD on September 28th. This "funny but eye-opening" expose on American big business, the disc will include a new 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 2.0 surround track and bonus trailers. Retail will list for $19.95. "

Well I'm glad they're finally releasing it, I was confused and sad when the first release time fell through. Now,
