Your DVD Collection Surprise Stories

With the growing of our DVD collections there are always DVDs that we forget we own. What’s your most surprise find in your own DVD collection?! I was looking at my DVDs today and was shocked to find 2 DVDs of Star Wars - Phantom Menace and at 2 different places! Now I’m thinking why and when I purchased a second copy?!

I purchased Dr Strangelove twice because with 1187 DVDs it hard to remember all of them

I've never purchased anything twice, but occasionally when I'm looking at my DVD collection I notice some really awful horror movie. I usually just chalk it up to getting greedy at the Walmart Discount Bin

I have another one. Again today I saw one of my very very first DVD purchases and it’s the “Little Shop of Horrors: Special Edition”! This is the rare original release! This is all I remember. I remember that I heard back then that I should keep this because it’s exceptional and for later releases they are going to change it. It was a special feature or something.

Someone snuck into my apartment and stuck a couple of pornographic DVDs in my collection when I wasn't looking. How DAAARRE they!! How disGUSTing! One of them did have the multi-angle feature, which was kinda cool, but otherwise a dirty, shameful deed. Tsk tsk and all that.

NOTE: Sam, that's the LITTLE SHOP containing the original ending in black & white.

Yes now I remember! I remember how excited I was at that time to have a rare item! It was 6 years ago and at the beginning of the DVD era.

Sam, I think that thing's worth a pretty penny these days. Must say, it's nice to actually have titles in my collection that are actually collectible, including LITTLE SHOP and some of the out-of-print Criterions and early Image Universal titles (MST3K MOVIE, DOUBLE INDEMNITY, etc). Can't say I ever had a VHS tape that was worth much.

That happens to one of my friends too but he doesn’t get surprised anymore!

Yes it’s nice to know you have something rare. I didn’t get "Little Shop of Horrors" because I knew the movie or was a fan of it. I just got it because I heard it’s rare! Yes I’m ashamed! The other *maybe* rare item is the original "Devil's Advocate". Is this as rare as “Little Shop of Horrors” too?

Nothing like this for DVD's, but I found out that I had purchased two copies of the Beatles album, Help!

This wasn't obvious until I realized that I was listening to the CD on my PC, yet it was still in my CD wallet...

Of course, you could also ask yourself why you bought the first copy.

Spoiler:
Just teasing you! I have this DVD too.

But seriously folks, I keep a list on my palm pilot so I never accidentally buy the same disc twice -- this happened with one of the numbered Star Trek volumes back in the olden days.
