I haven't had a chance to check it out on my home rig yet to verify but everything on the box says 5.1 only.
I played the menu on my work PC and it also claims 5.1. Anchor Bay always advertises ES soundtracks when they use them.
I thought the pre-release info claimed this was DD5.1EX & DTS ES Discrete.

Hopefully, the box set will be, but I doubt it.

Doug
BTW, the transfer is jaw dropping. Nice job Anchor Bay!

All pre-release documents write there is a DTS-ES discrete soundtrack. I'm eagerly waiting for my copy.

I'm watching it now on my DTS-ES capable receiver.
There is no DTS-ES or DDEX flag.

Looks like the pre-release info was wrong.

I guess it really doesn't matter, Day was DTS-ES and I never heard anything in the back speakers.

Yes, Day of the Dead didn't have an active 6.1 soundtrack. Most of it was center-channel based. Not the best re-purposing effort.

Wanting a DTS-ES track for DAWN is a wish of course that the re-purposing would be better this time around...after all The Evil Dead and Halloween were great efforts for horror flicks.

I got my copy yesterday. It's a great movie and it was a delight to see it such great shape - the transfer is sublime.

DVDFile's review up and they mention (incorrectly) that there is a DDEX soundtrack. They have been wrong before as we all know. They never specifically mention the back center channel in the review anyway.

I've watched up to the scene where they enter the mall and the the transfer is fantastic. The soundtrack still sounds mono even in DTS.

Check your local B&M street date breakers. That is where I got mine.

BTW, for those wondering. This looks like the real theaterical cut. The last theatrical cut added some scenes at the boat dock. Those scenes are not in this release.

People, this is a mono movie mixed in a center channel soundtrack. The lack of DTS-ES should not be of any significance. For this disc, I would be happy just with a clean sounding mono track.

Guys

I received my copy in the mail today and there IS a DTS 5.1 encoding on the disc. I'll watch it tonight and have a review come shortly after. It is the 127 minute U.S. theatrical version.
